Description
In 18th century England, Gabriel, an orphan girl from a fallen noble family befriended a young man named Jeremy, who was rumored to be an illegitimate child of a nobleman. After an incident occurred, resulting in his tragic death, Gabriel must impersonate her friend Jeremy, taking his place at an all boys academy for nobles, a place that may seem like heaven to others, but really hides a harshness which she would never have imagined.

Bad Ending

Putting aside the art I actually thought this story had more potential for plot development than the author's previous work Flower of Evil. However, the ending was a disappointment because she left so many unresolved issues.

We never found out about Gabriel's past before she became an orphan and Joshua was just left hanging at the end as well as the Duchess. In my opinion, the whole blackmailing thing the Duchess was doing against Gabriel was weak. It all fell apart when the Duchess gave up her goal leaving a mediocre plot/ending.

The story leaves a lot of things unresolved, but in an era where nobles played around with others' lives and one's class meant more in society than anything else, it was not surprising that justice wasn't dealt. In fact, it was a believable end considering who the characters in the story were.
I really liked the end, it was believable and yet satisfying in its own way. While there was a lot of angst in the story, considering how messed up their lives were, it was well done. Overall, I give it an 8.5/10 (the art is great, it's deep and suspenseful, but it's not quite a masterpiece).

Yes, Euan died. But the way that he'd been playing around with women and men, he was bound to get killed by someone's husband or wife. It was unfortunate timing and I'm not sure if he was even having an affair with that particular duchess, but the story did bring up the possibility of him dying due to his playboy habits in chapter 1. And for people that were expecting Jeremy and Ray to end up married and happy, it's Victorian Era England, that just doesn't happen between commoners and nobles. They do end up together - with Gabriel as Ray's mistress - and that's the only way it could have believably happened.

I'm very disappointed in the way this story turned out. In the beginning, I was captivated by the story and the different relationships that were developing between the lead and the other characters. However, as the story progressed, the author failed to really develop these relationships and instead, filled the story with too many flashbacks and stories of side characters. Ultimately the story became disjointed and in the end, the conclusion was not satisfying at all. I'd give it a 5 (as in, take it or leave it) but the artwork is nice so it's a 6/10
ending sucked!

i have to agree with one of the comments here. all the volumes except the last one sucked! ending is rushed. 7 volumes isn't enough to settle all the things that happened in this manga.

the author took the easy way out of ending the story by having euan dead. and gabriel getting away. wtf!

I read practically the entire thing (except the last volume) in one sitting. I loved it, I loved the twisted nature of it, the plot thickenings, the flawed characters, the angst. Of course, the plot mover was more about the relationship(s) she had more so than an actual goal. Nevertheless, I still liked Gabriel (I normally don't like shoujo heroines). This is more of a suit-my-needs kind of manga than an excellent story. It was fascinating, but not necessarily the best thing out there. Sometimes I prefer things that are exactly my cup of tea rather than read stuff I must learn to stomach and get on with its idealistic natures.
If you like twisted plotlines, you should read this. Definitely. Also, the artwork is fantastic!
P.S.: The only reason I didn't give it a total 9 is because I loved how original this gender bender (this genre tends to be overly cliche) is. The reason I didn't give it a 9.5 is because the ending was drab. Was I content? Yes. Was I expecting something amazing? Yes. The ending was anticlimactic, it could ruin some people's perspective of the manhwa as a whole, but it didn't necessarily ruin mine. I preferred the journey.

This has potential but as the story continued it dwindled and dwindled into nothingness. Either the idea could not be expanded properly by the author/artist or it was just that, a simple idea that bores the reader.

Truthfully when i started reading, it seemed as a great start/ But the end just didn't click for me. I'm not saying it was a waste, its was acutally a very enoyable read, just the ending didn't click for me, but the characters do have a somewhat realistic happy ending. I perfer more real tradegy story's, but happy endings are alright at times.
A shinning gem in a pile of stone... yet in the end it was nothing more than a stone

The author gave us a brilliant plot, every chapter a mystery will be unveiled only to be replaced by another one that will pull your deeper and deeper into the story.
She kept on pilling up a another dark plot with a sinister one,
1) The heroine's origin (Fallen Nobel).
2) Jeremy's family background.
3) A love affair between a maid and a nobel child which turned out to be an adult.
4) A fiance who turned out to be the nobel child's sister with personality issues.
5) A megane character with psychological issues after the death of his lover.
6) The brother's messed up family.
7) A potential love quadruplet happening in the future.
8) And finally a girl in an all boys school that is a very open to homosexual relationship!
The author presented us with a perfect setting for a tragic/dark story and unfortunately she pathetically failed to deliver it... The only thing I could think of the ending she presented us is that she herself doesn't know how to end her story after putting so much plot line in one series so in the end she lost interest in it.
Yes a 3 because I like the setting and some of the characters. The art "meh". The pacing (-_-). The characters, Gabriel seemed like an angel because the author seemed to think that all the females in Victorian period are b*tches besides the main star. The men are portrayed smart and yet they are easily manipulated by the women around them except Euan who is a gay and immune to feminine charms. The ending, try reading it because I don't think -10 is enough.

I also don't get the point while Euan had to die, I mean if he was meant to die then the author have let him get stab during the struggle in the train. I also didn't like how Ray looked so much like Euan in the end, I feel like it's Euan in there rather than Ray because of the change in personality. Also the heroine's real name was never revealed. Well at least Ray and Gab ended up together.
