Description
From Kodansha:
Takao Kasuga is a bookworm. And his favorite book right now is Baudelaire's Flowers of Evil. While the young man may often be seen lost in thought as he rabidly consumes page after page, Takao is not much of a student. Actually when we are first introduced to the middle school teen, we find him sneaking some reading as he receives an F on a recent language exam. Nakagawa is known as the class bully.
When she is not receiving zeros she is usually muttering profanities to those around her. While she doesn't care for books or their readers, she does have a thing for troublemakers... More...

Actually when we are first introduced to the middle school teen, we find him sneaking some reading as he receives an F on a recent language exam. Nakagawa is known as the class bully.
When she is not receiving zeros she is usually muttering profanities to those around her. While she doesn't care for books or their readers, she does have a thing for troublemakers. Takao may not be one, but having read over his shoulder a few times, she knows he is not very innocent. If anything he is bored and aware of it. Together, by chance, they shake up their entire rural community as Takao tries to break out of his shell in a random moment of passion and affection not directed towards Nakamura.
And contrary to Takao's predictions, the girl he was falling for, Nanako Saeki, responds by eventually accepting the bibliophile for who he is. Or at least, who she thinks he is. And therein lies the conflict. Takao is not a hero. He is not a troublemaker, either. He is a regular teen who through equal moments of cowardice and chivalry takes a long step towards adulthood as he desperately tries to cover up a dark secret. Takao Kusuga has stolen an item precious to someone he is attracted to, and if he doesn't form a "contract" with his new best friend, she is going to tell.

A very dark and twisted manga that's nonetheless compelling. I read it in bursts and I really enjoyed it, though if you're not going to like it if you're looking for a standard manga romance plot. If you like stories about characters with deep psychological problems then this will be right up your alley.
Great series, so far, but not for everyone

While it got off to a slow start, the series has definitely taken off in recent chapters and is hard to put down till there's no more left to read. The subject matter though becomes increasingly dark however, and might not be for everyone.
its good~

Its a good manga. Its refreshing due to the dark nature that you rarely see, but not too dark where it pisses you off and makes you want to smack something. I like how the story progresses and how the characters develop.

I swear to god this manga is batshit insane, but I seriously started sweating reading it because I found it to be REALLY exciting (in a weird kind of way). As others said the main lead is pretty pathetic but as long as you fastforward the self-deprecating bits this is a pretty unique story. I enjoyed reading it, can't wait for the conclusion.
I'm usually not one for the dark/twisted genre but found this one to be superb. Odd to see such a low rating, I found this to be miles more interesting then "Onani Master Kurosawa".
Recommended if you're in for a wicked ride, but do keep it mind it's pretty self-destructive if I had to call it a name.

I read till ch20 and the story keeps dragging painfully. "I'm a perv! I'm a perv" -- grow a spine and move on!
It's disappointing to think that this was written & drawn by the same guy who did Yuutai Nova, which was much more imaginative and promising.

when the first time i read, i think may be this manga is very interesting, because it has type is Psychological and the art is not very bad, may be like Koharu no Hibi.
but now i think what the hell i'm reading, the boy is loser or some thing ...., the girl who stading before him, love him and ...., so why his chose is the girl who behind him, i don't know and don't want to know anymore, this manga now is boring with me =_=

believe me this manga is Evil
once you start reading it you can't stop and it will make feel disgusted ... lost ... empty ... dead
it's amazing that a manga can achieve something only good novels can do

I don't know who disgusts me more, Nakamura and her cynical view of Kasuga and humanity, or Kasuga, who is such a pathetic (insert curse word here). In any case, this story is intriguing. But I prefer Sundome.
