I'm not going to sit here and pretend that I hated it or that I absolutely adored it, because neither was the case. It was just one of those 'eh' mangas that left you with a mediocre ending and characters who didn't seem as compatible with each other as they themselves would have liked to believe.

What frustrated me the most were the inconsistencies with the characters---especially the 'brother' (I can't even remember his name). It's like he was trying to convince himself he liked her one minute but then the next, he's back to being a lonely old man---make up your mind already!

At first I was disgusted being the main plot the romance between siblings with huge age gap but the story develops pretty good and to be honest, they don't show you any weird or perverted stuff. Still, it's not a manga that I would recommend to anyone with high moral values. The design for the faces of characters is very nice but the art for the rest: body and clothing, and environment is very poor (still the mangata drawings are way better than anything I can draw!!).

Why must such great art be used for evil?

This is an incredible manga dealing with human relationships. The talent displayed by the mangaka is amazing. But why must that talent be used for evil? Why make it about a brother and his sister? I absolutely hate this manga for making me love it enough to keep reading.

im a big enough otaku that im pretty used to incest, so it wasnt a problem for me. That said, both the anime and manga are like the most romantic and sweet things ive ever. since i finished it, whenever i have a free moment i find my mind drifting back to this story and just smiling. Highly recommended, if you can deal with the honestly, sub-par drawing.

Kinda overrated

This may be a fault of the translation but there were a few chapters in the end where I had no idea what decision the main character had made. (around the cafe part and onwards for a few chapters)
The first few chapters seemed like it was jumping between plot points rather than showing them developing. It's not made clear enough that their original encounter had such a large impact on the male main character. His and his sister's feelings are conveyed but the development isn't.
This improves during the series, but not by much. Again, some of this may be a fault of translation, but some of it clearly is purely on the mangaka.
The female main character's best friend is also poorly written, having no character. I also wish those thoughts of her's that we read last were clearer. What precisely was she talking about? How much did that planner reveal?

I'll still give this a good rating because it did evoke some melancholy and such in me and because it's a romance. And the romance genre has very VERY few manga that don't suck.

But there are other romances I would recommend more. ("Tokyo's Casanova", "Girl Friends", "Sasameki Koto", "Kimi ni Todoke", "Haru,yo Koi!" and so on..)

Of course, there also the possibility that my opinion will drastically change over time, having just come out of reading it a few minutes ago bigrazz
Oh, and perhaps I should mention that I was kinda sleep-deprived while reading this. But, anyways, from what I've read (EDIT: as in, on wikipedia. I was trying to find out what I had just read, due to the lack of clarity), it seems the anime has a lot more clarity. Though it changes things, they seem to be good condensations.

Great read, and easily one of the best romance manga I've ever read. I'll be upfront and say that the premise of the story is not for everyone (personally, I didn't have a problem with it), but it's an integral part of the narrative and the driving force behind everything that happens. It never once feels tacked on, and as long as you're not bothered by it I think you'll find you're in for a wonderful read.

The author takes on a very touchy subject matter in a straightforward and believable manner. This is drama, without all the cliches that are normally found within the genre. Through the course of the story you see these two characters as they run through the whole range of emotions as they try to deal with their growing attachment towards one another, both understanding how society would view their relationship, and yet each unable to rid themselves of their feelings for the other. In truth, and at it's heart, it's a very sweet, very romantic story, one that left me rooting for the couples happiness despite the unconventional pairing.

The story also benefited from a great art style that really worked well in setting the mood. My only complaint here was that the character art was at times inconsistent, sometimes being very well done while others being very sloppy. It was especially disconcerting because this disparity would often happen on the very same page, although to be fair the author seemed to settle down by the 4th volume and there wasn't nearly as much of this from then on.

In summary, I highly recommend this to any fan of romance manga as long as you are not put off by the subject matter. Get by that, and you're in for a treat as this is one of the very best I've read. Sweet, without being sappy, and with nary a cliche in sight. It gets a near perfect score from me, only loosing half a point for some of the inconsistencies in the character art.

As I, personally, have no problem with any relationship that is entered into willingly by both parties, without coercion, with both parties fully accepting any possible repercussions, the incest factor of this manga never really weirded me out as I know it has many other readers.

I would recommend this manga for anyone - I think /especially/ people that would, under normal circumstances, never read something with this sort of subject matter. After all, what are we here for if not to expand the minds of our lowly and unsuspecting friends and family?

Speechless...

I can't really say anything that others before didn't say... I've just finished reading this manga and it touched me in such a way that I can't even put my feelings into words.

Incest is a tough, controversial topic, and I'm really glad about how this mangaka showed it. The characters, their feelings, their choices, the situations they find themselves in, are cruelly realistic and developed in an excellent way. Though I can't say I support incest, I must admit I found myself understanding the characters, because the way the mangaka developed this story is so deep and heartbreaking that you can't be human if you don't feel touched or moved even a little.

Like some others have said before me, don't discard this manga before reading it because of its theme... you may not approve of incest, but you'll have the chance of reading a wonderful story, a masterpiece if you ask me. An excellent work done by this mangaka that will stay in my heart forever.

Many other have taken the time to comment on this, and although I have a lot that mirrors what others have said, I think it's only appropriate that I comment on a manga that touched me.

In regards to the overlaying issue that most readers have with this manga, I'm thoroughly ashamed if any of them have ever read a story with violence, sexual themes, fanservice, or alcohol/substance abuse. I am definitely not advocating incest, but rating a story on the merits of that premise alone is shameful.

I would like to implore any future readers to have an open mind when any form of story dives into a controversial topic. Please base your opinion on the merits of the work rather than the preconceived notions that you or others might have.

I felt very moved by the story that the mangaka presented to us. It wasn't really distasteful; it was more like it was being realistic. The difficulties that the brother and sister experienced with their own feelings and the feelings around them were very well conveyed. As an earlier commenter had felt, I too feel that this is a story that shall stay with me forever.
