I LOVE THIS SERIES! At first I was reluctant to pick it up, but the drawings are gorgeous! The monsters are so beautifully drawn! The story progresses slowly at the beginning, but it picks up, and it gets more and more interesting! >.<

This manga is one of the best mangas out. Good action, excellent storyline... Can't ask for more than that.

One of the better action manga out there!!!

Claymore is for me one of the better action manga with a sad background story. The art is very beautiful. The story tells in the beginning that the Claymores are inhuman killing machines, but when the story develops you will see that Claymores are more human than demons (Youma) (until they "awake") and they also have feelings about love and friendship.

Then the ranking system of the Claymores (remind me of power level (DBZ) or bounty (One piece), but although not exactly the same; or it's more closer to the ranking system of the agents in the Baroque Works (Sir Crocodile - One Piece) is in my opinion very interesting and intriguing. The sword fighting is wonderful, the design of the Armor for the Claymores is excellent and the character design is superb.

By the way, Clare (protagonist) does look like Ikuno from Angel Densetsu (comedy manga from the same author; another recommendation) which is also one of my favorite characters!

this manga is awesome but sometimes i cant tell the characters apart..they almost all wear the same clothes and all the demons..except for the big major ones are drawn exactly the same and also...the main characters seems to only get stronger by getting other peoples body parts..

After reading the first few volumes, I thought this manga was terrible and dropped it from my reading list. Fortunately, I came back, because it gets pretty enjoyable as you progress further and further. The character designs and costume designs are very attractive and the action is fast-paced. While the story is pretty minimal, the stuff that is there is interesting enough to make you want to read more and more. After spending weeks forcing myself through the first four volumes, I read the remaining eight in two sittings.

It does have some fairly big flaws, though. The art frequently gets repetitive since all the Claymores look almost the same, other than slight hairstyle variations, and mostly wear identical armor. It can be troublesome to figure out who is who at times. A lot of the enemies, too, end up looking pretty similar, if not downright identical. The mangaka can clearly draw great looking characters and enemies, but it needs more imagination and variety. I realize it's a shounen manga, but I wish they would spend less time talking about the rankings of the Claymores' power levels. The world is also starting to feel like an all-female version of Berserk.

Really, the biggest flaw that keeps my score from being higher is that none of the characters are really all that likable. They play their roles in the story well enough, but there isn't a single character I'd be upset to see killed off.

Anyway, if you like dark action manga, such as Berserk, you should probably give this manga a try, but be prepared to think the first three volumes are garbage.

well it's a good manga no doubt. But I rate it 7. A little bit too pathetic, and although good i find the art somehow repetitive. I enjoyed it, but i would not go as far as to compare it to berserk. It doen't have its depth, its dialogues and the art in berserk is much better - of course in my opinion

i read up to volume 12 in a go, absolutely fantastic. i checked the series stats and decided to read this manga, i wasn't let down. this is among my 5-10 best manga. many people have compared it to berserk and say it's better, yea claymore is good but when it comes down to the basics, gore, action and plot, berserk rules.
nonetheless it's still a great manga and quite new, theres still more to be seen from this manga.

The story starts off to what would seem like a typical "hunter hunting demon" kind of manga, but a magnificent weaving of action and story help advance the plot quickly, as well as provide some awesome action scenes. The plot immediately begins a rising action, and rapidly rolls towards the climax.

It's a definite smash hit, and I foresee it to easily become on the the hugely successful titles to hit North America when people wake up to it.
