the manga is the best! the anime was totally screwed up. If you're thinking about if you should read this series or watch the anime. Read the manga. So much more original and informative and better all-round.
Watched the Anime, loved the Anime, then read the Manga, loved the Manga, then watched the Anime and well, it's quite bad actually.
Can't blame them, making an anime when the manga isn't even finished will always end nowhere as good as the manga most of the times (with fews exceptions like... well... hmmmm... well, that's not because I can't think of any that there isn't).
Well, anyone who liked the anime will just love the manga, and if there's someone who didn't like the anime (an exception, like... hmmmm... well, there probably are some, somewhere), he should just give the manga a try, it's worth it.

i think that the anime is okay but at times the manga is way better i mean if you think the anime better then maybe you havent even read the manga RIGHT!!!well anyway i think this manga was interesting and in a way funny.it very good !!!!!so read it (or watch it ) ^^. ok ^^
seriously i think the anime is far better than the manga times i got bored but its acool show my fave character is elric
I insist that you start from the very beginning itself. True the anime was wonderful and all that, but the storyline differ a lot. Pick out yourself when the anime and manga truly separate itself as they have a different story in mind when they started out. As the manga is still ongoing, its good to keep the entire volume of the series so you can refer back or just reread it again at anytime. Its truly a manga that you can't get bored rereading.
Listen to the others when they say the manga is better. The anime's great, but you MUST try the manga! The plot drastically changes from the anime in volume 8, and for the better! May I also mention fangirls like myself will like Ling when he comes! XD
FMA and Hellsing are the only 2 mangas i can read over and over. once you read the manga youll realize you wasted your time on the anime, becuase the anime doesnt even compare to how great the manga is
so much better than the anime' and i really enjoyed the anime'. so many twists and it really captures you.
Essentially, the same old FMA characters we all know and love slapped into a somewhat different story-line that involves many aspects absent in the anime. Definitely worth a read. Especially if you loved the FMA anime.
This is one of most well-written series I've ever read. The plot is filled with twists, and every new plot development brings answers but even more questions. You just can't put it down.
Some people might find fault with its art because of its style (which they consider "not-so-great art"), but I feel it's appropriate for it's European-esque context.
