Description
From Viz:
A moving drama that is heartfelt and true, yet in the brilliant hands of manga artist Mitsuru Adachi, delightfully flows with a light and amusing touch. The series centers around a boy named Ko, the family of four sisters who live down the street and the game of baseball. This poignant coming-of-age story will change your perception of what shonen manga can be.
Note: Won the 54th Shogakukan Manga Award for Shounen in 2009.

Probably my favorite Adachi manga, and overall definitely one of my favorite manga. I liked the anime even more. ONE complaint: could have had a juicier ending. After all that you'd expect some more love in the air. Oh well, one can have some imagination. Oh, and I also found the doppelganger girl a bit unnecessary. Nothing too annoying, though.
The feelings this manga conveys right from the start volume 1 are definitely one of a kind. Not too many manga manage to have you entirely attached to the main characters in such a short time span. The character development is amazing, too. Highly recommended to either read or watch Cross Game at least once.

To me, this is the apex of Adachi's work. He seems to basically write the same story over and over again, but they are always (so far as I have seen) worth reading because of the twists he works in.
Cross game is basically perfect. The story has great characters, a plot that is going to a particular conclusion rather than just running on for ever, wonderful Shounen 'we can get stronger and win' drive, fantastic (if old-fashioned) art, and emotional moments that made me cry.
If you haven't read it, and you think that all this sounds good, start now.

This is probably my favorite of adachi's works. from the very beginning it has you hooked, trying to figure out whats going to happen next. and although im not into baseball, the game scenes were cool. the only thing i was disappointed in was the ending. it just didnt seem like the right place to stop for me. but hey what can you say. this is an adachi work. and most of his endings are like this.
Yeah

I really love Adachi's work =)
Every time you read one of his story, you'll probably know what will happen in the end (always same face and generally always a sweet end) but there is so much comedy, drama, fun, sport between the start and the end so you can never be tired reading adachi's manga.
And i can't remember a time when i think it would be better if one of the character do something else or if the manga go in another direction... Adachi just do the perfect thing every time =)
Ok i m a bit to enthousiast, sometimes the sport part take a little too much length but it's never boring =)
Ah i hope he would draw again a manga like Nijiiro Togarashi, or with less sport in it =)

Why oh why must Adachi be so good? I can't think of another series other then On of Adachi's that has made me stay up till 4am reading it.
What can I say that hasn't been said? Cross game starts with a bang, Anyone who has read Adachi's work knows what to expect.
Some kind of Rivalry between 2 people (Either siblings or Love interests), Tragedy (at some point) a hint of romance (Waiting for AobaxKoh) and good story telling overall. I mean really if you have read his stuff you know what to expect but None of his series disappoint. Cross sure hasn't I don't think I've read a sports manga better then it, Hell I couldn't say I can think of many manga in general that has made me crave for more such as this one. Someone said before that They have had times where they get bored of reading and skip parts of manga (for the exception of Adachi) and I must certainly agree.
I too have had the urge to Skip past series (and I have) but Not once on adachi's.
Could talk more about it but that would make this post too long.
Overall good series nuff said.

... and I still can't have enough. I've read all his works available out there for me to read and yet I still haven't got bored of his manga. His style suite my taste perfectly, I suppose.
I agree with thanhlongjn that his manga "all had the same drawing style, the stories were somehow similar". But a manga, for me, is more than just the drawing style, and somehow, similar stories are proved to be still attractive, if the mangaka is a genius. His wit isn't getting old, it's deeper as time goes by, so are his stories. Sometimes I got tired of reading lines and lines of dialogs from other manga, but not from Adachi's, something's better left unsaid. He sure has a gift for using unspoken dialogs and implication.
Cross Game is definitely worth for you to look at, if not enjoy entirely.

I don't know, maybe it's just my taste, hmm! I'd read touch, H2, rough, katsu... most of adachi's works. They all had the same drawing style, the stories were somehow similar, BUT i'd never got bored of his works.
To this point, Cross Game is definitely one of adachi's best work, probably on the same level as touch,(above h2 a lil' bit, lol). the ending is closing but as always, adachi is unpredictable, i still can't guess who will end up together?
Koh-Akane or Koh-Aoba? Arrrrrrrr! hell, i hate waiting.
