Good art and Rui makes this tolerable

If you're looking for depth, you're looking in the wrong place. This has to be one of the most by-the-numbers romance plots I've seen in a very long time. Nearly every plot point is easily seen 10 chapters beforehand. There is little substance other than the character's relationships, which, because it's so predictable, gets tiresome pretty fast (along with the ecchi segments). Almost everyone can solely be defined by who they like, with very few qualities past that. It was quite frustrating having an arc dedicated to lecturing the MC on how hard writing a story is when the writing presented is so flat.

As the header illustrates, however, it does have a few good points. Every character is distinct and has a range of emotions presented, which makes them feel less like the cut-outs that they really are. Both of the main lead heroines are flawed, but Rui is at least enjoyable to be around. Still, I would not recommend reading this unless you are quite bored or enjoy soap operas.

Getting really redundant

At first the story seemed fast paced but was a great read.
At the present the story keep running in the loop by unfolding the same problem, seems the author got less material to be unfolded.

Excellent work

The story has a very good, interesting and solid argument. The characters are also very well developed. A work highly recommended for fans of the romance genre. Its only weak spot is that the immaturity that often the main character shows, becomes exasperating to the point that you would believe that he will begin to falter and commit the same mistakes as before. About the art, I only have to say it is excellent.

So Far So Good

There have been ups and downs in this manga, and there still is a lot of drama where I'm at now ch 64. My opinion on this is that it's a great read if you are fine with all the emotional roller coasters that happens. Not going to say what exactly, but I almost never thought the main character would get what he wanted and would be ntr'd the rest of the way. OHO was I wrong. So much happens that sometimes it gets me frustrated and mad, but it's a sign that I'm getting way into it. I'm new at this rating thing, but I can definitely say I would recommend it if you're a fan of KissXKiss, UnbalanceXUnbalance, and, of course, GE Good Ending. And maybe Nozoki Ana.

Another interesting story

Pretty good romance manga so far. I dont know what kind of Romance manga the other bad comments were expecting; maybe some Shojo bull but this one is interesting. The lead is pretty likable and im glad he has more of a backbone then the one from GoodEnding" (this authors previous series). Also much like Good Ending, im glad all the main female cast has pretty good personalities so you kinda wanna route for them all. The art is pretty good and as for the story man its filled with so much drama man.The story itself is kinda a spoiler but considering the description ill just talk about that. its basically the MC having a random one night stand with a girl after he gets kinda turned down by a teacher he loves and he randomly ends of living with both of them (cause the girl and the teacher are sister). Its cause their mom is getting married to his dad so yea the premise alone was asking for drama lol. Anyway i wanted to comment on the relationship progress so far
I do like Rui a lot (the one night stand new sister) she kinda has that great kuudere personality that you cant help but feel for. However having an older hot teacher living with you is also a great thing too.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
However i am glad the Natsuo took the road less traveled. Meaning he finally got the Teacher/step sister he loved and aye man getting with a hot teacher in highschool was kinda every mans fantasy at one point (if you did have a hot teacher before that is). Anyway theirs also a really likable shy girl and a pretty promiscuous airhead but their also pretty likable and can be routed for. But yea i know this series will most likely have the lead going with the main heroine (Rui) in the end. much like GoodEnding once again

so yea ill enjoy the current relationship while it last and i wouldn't be mad with that ending situation if it happens or not

For the sake of posterity:

This is not seinen because it is published ina shounen magazine. Seinen, shounen, josei, and shoujo are all demographics and are used to describe the target audience of the magazine a manga is published in, *not* the maturity of the content (which is why mangaupdates allow for the mature/adult genres to be used to specify how mature a manga is.

Domestic na Kanojo is published in the Shuukan Shounen Magazine thus by definition is a shounen work, although the themes are mature.

Also, this is *not netorare*, the netorare or NTR tag is used to describe when the lover of the main character cheats on him. This has yet to happen in this manga. The "cheating" tag is when the main character of a manga cheats on his lover (which one could argue has happened in this manga, depending on how you view the relationship between the MC and Rui.). Finally, there is the *nettori* tag, which what you call it when the main character steals the lover of another person (again, this has yet to happen in this manga)

So heavy

The art is great, nothing to pick at there. There isn't needless fan-service, maybe 1-2 pages per the 30 chapters I've read.

But the story is much alike Good Ending, though I preferred the teacher-student relationship in this one. Taboos make great stories.

The start is not as heavy, but it wears you down after 20 chapters. There is jealousy and anxiety in every page. Maybe it's more bearable if you read a chapter per week, or maybe Japanese culture has a different view on this, but I can't imagine myself coming back to this manga after a break. I didn't go back to Good Ending.

I literally feel pain in my gut reading this. I feel like Hina or Rui will be in some kind of stupid misunderstanding and do something stupid, or they'll straight out get raped.

This is netorare when I think about it. If you're into that, 10/10 must read.

Though a question must be asked... why is this not seinen ?

Every characters' hairdo is impeccable. That is the most noticeable perfection in author's style, which sadly made me feel tired looking at them. But the greatest offense is the amount of drama happen to get the story going. It's so much I feel suffocated. Breathers is hard to find, you have to make it yourself, namely, take a break from reading this manga few months at a time. Oh, and the drama itself is not so great This is GE all over again: school-age romance at premise but mature and somewhat unrestrained in practice.

Guilty pleasure

This manga starts of very similar to sasuga kei's previous work GE - Good Ending.
Our MC has a one sided crush on a girl. The girl also turns out to be involved in a unhealthy relationship. Some of the other characters also bear character traits of characters in GE.

I prefer Natsuo to the MC in GE, as he is different from the unpopular type that usually appears in male orientated romance manga.
Some people have complained about how the MC wavers with the other females characters but this also normal behaviour.
His sleeps with Rui in the 1st ch. because he is trying to let go of his feelings for Hina after realizing she only sees him as a child. He doesn't know how to handle her advances later on as she is now his step sister and he does not want to hurt her or damage their new family.
He almost falls for Momo's seduction after being officially turned down by Hina but does not follow through as he realizes how lonely Momo actually is and sex is only her attempt to fill the void in her life.
He starts to picture Ashihara as a potential GF because she seems to be pure and a part of him feels he has to conform to a healthy relationship with a girl his age.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Later on when Hina appears to have feelings for him against all his expectations he wholeheartedly pursues her against her reservations. Also there is a major arc in the latest raw chapters dealing with Ashihara and Kiriya to those that say that the side characters dont have any depth. Although a lot don't.

Adultery and even people pinning after people who are in committed relationships is not something I really like to read about. As a result there are many times when I have disliked some of the characters.
Overall I am addicted to this series.
