It was pretty good. The ending took me by surprise and answered some questions I had regarding the link between it and Stellar transformations. Whose ending left me slightly disappointed as I couldn't figure out the link. It was a problem due to poor translation of names. But in light of this I enjoyed the ending of this almost as much as I enjoyed Stellar Transformations ending.
Might contain spoilers - I will comment on the whole story (which hasn't been all translated as the time of this comment).
Coiling dragon started out very slow, it took half of the books for the MC to get to Saint level which imo very good decision to build up the suspension. But then you found out the 30 strongest people on Earth are actually weaklings comparing to people from other planes. And then comes the part which imo was the worst part of the series - escapees from the jail dungeon. The last 200 chapters (from Book 15) were probably the best part, good pacing and very good world building you obviously can see the writer got better at writing this series at this point. Although I'd like the last 20 chapters to be longer, the ending felt kinda rushed but it was good considering many other series just botch the ending.
Some complaints would be, what's the point of being Magus or Warrior? The dragon transform = +1 level was kinda confusing as well but those were all in the beginning, so you kinda forget them at the end..

I must say that AlphaGulp is quite right about some elements of this novel. In my opinion the Coiling Dragon was a really good read until Linley became a Saint. Moreover, the Alice plot was really refreshing ( for once, the main hero didn't get what he wanted, nice idea author :D ). However, the biggest problem of the author is that he is a poor writer. If you read The Desolate Era or Stellar Transformation before, you will see that there are really similar. And i'm fed up with repetitions of the same sentences. Another problem is that except the story with Alice, there is no romance in this novel ( i think the author doesn't know how to write it), after Alice, he gets married and his love life is over, booooooring. As a person, Linley isn't bad, but he isn't specially interesting ( same kind of hero as in Stellar Transformation). But the thing that shocks me a lot is a power system created by the author. It's a new kind of Shounen power system that exceeds Dragon Ball ( and as AlphaGulp said the powering is always the same, it is not original). Of course i'm still reading the novel but it isn't in my top 10 or even 20.
I can't help but comment! (basically I'm enjoying this right now and doing fast read each time I encounter something interesting I can't help but share it!)

So far so good MC reach Saint level founded his own kingdom although his brother is the king. MC got twins! ha ha theres a chapter that explain why they got twins.. just imagine a saint doing it with his wife hahaha I won't be surprise if he got quadruplet!

Like I said an up and down feeling but like I only have an up feeling reading this from his major battle against the church to him befriending gods and his pet bebe is still a big mystery (is what the novel wanted but some readers might already figure bebe the mouse origins, figure it out yourself and enjoy)
It felt rush MC got his revenge went to another realm (infernal realm) became a god, mc wife became a god together with bebe who also a god join him there..
Bebe got a girl friend after what 100yrs? I am lost of year count I think 100+ yrs already pass inside the infernal realm.. MC is the youngest to reach god realm? I think someone mentaion the youngest was 10 yrs old (was born as a deity became a god after 10 yrs)
I wonder how many volume before mc reach his clan in the infernal realm..
The infernal realm is just normal people are deity (demi gods) strongest are high gods but the artifacts matters.. MC ,his wife and bebe + bebe gf and bebe gf brother(high god) now on an escort journey.. infernal realm ha a fiend system just like an adventure guild you take mission to earn money and level up only the test 10 out of 1000 well likely to pass..
So far so good when they arrive at the infernal realm it looks like reading another novel all over again.

If you have tiny bit of patience to read through initial phases of novel then you are in for a novel which has a cliff-hanger every chapter....also it's very enjoying cause it has heck of a lot chapters.......

I'm 14 chapters in and I'm literally skipping whole chapters without missing anything. I'm bored completely and can't get into the story at all. This is an action Novel, right? Where is all the action? I'll stick it out, but seriously this really disappointing me so far.
That's what I said before.... It picks up a lot once he gets dumped, badly, by his girlfriend. Then it's just one breakjthrough after another and a lot of revenge this and death that. he's very single minded.
So far, it's a fun ride but nothing too spectacular.

Coiling Dragon starts off with a very simple premise of a boy's goal to reclaim glory for his clan. The story has a lot of momentum at the start, tracking his growth as a magus and warrior. Unlike other novels, I like that the author emphasizes the importance of hard work and Linley does not suffer any extreme power ups: his gains are the product of his training.
However, his character is extremely bland. He doesn't have much personality beyond his desire to train, which makes him very boring to read about outside of fighting. But since this is an action novel, it's no huge deal that brawns > brains
My first main problem is with the author's treatment of women. Every single woman (I think) in the story is described as beautiful. But that's it: almost all of them are just walking Barbie dolls with barely any personality that's not skin deep. The one girl who isn't one dimensional is someone who turns down the main character. And the author is extremely vindictive about her rejecting our perfect Linley. She gets trampled to the ground, and from that point on, the author takes every opportunity to remind her how she missed out on the "perfect" guy. I can take a little bitterness, but it's just WAY over the top.
Now before I get to the writing, a disclaimer that I know that CD is an amateur work. But that doesn't excuse it from repeating stuff OVER and OVER again. I don't mind a reminder every once in a while about a concept. IET takes it to the next level. It's a running joke among the readers, but it's like the author thinks the readers are so retarded that we can't remember something repeated 5x already within the space of 2-3 chapters.
My final issue is something that popped up relatively recently. There is way too much sighing in amazement and praise lately AKA circlejerking. The top combatants are always admiring (jerking each other off, if you will) Linley, if not each other. Obviously, a person's accomplishments is mainly validated through others in society. Nevertheless, it's fatiguing to read the same formula again and again.
Overall, CD is a very good weak-to-strong story that I do recommend for people who enjoy that kind of story. It would just be so much better if the author could polish his writing and cut out 40% of all the useless filler and repetition, as well as give people personalities outside of their beauty or fighting ability.

"Addictive" is what i would describe this in one word. Protagonist is very hard working and likable person
The world building is very exciting as well...i already gobbled up 8 Books in 2 days and still can't stop...
Shout Out to Ren for Translating this Epic Novel in a Godly speed making this journey even more fruitful ...

If fantasy world with magic, battles, martial arts, training arcs, and a bit of romance is your thing.. You will not regret giving this a shot.
The constant cliff hangers will have you addicted by the first volume, while the world gets bigger as you explore it through the eyes of Linley.
Highly recommended if you enjoyed LNs such as Mushoku Tensei, Ark, LMS
Also recommended If you enjoy wuxia type stories.. As the author's style resonants in the light of famous chinese wuxia stories
The constant cliff hangers will have you addicted by the first volume, while the world gets bigger as you explore it through the eyes of Linley.

First of: The Thing I actually noticed first about the Story is that I have never seen an author that is this good with cliffhangers (and no I have read more than 1000 books already...). But that is probably a part of publishing online where there are chapter released continuesly. So it is nessecery to put in cliffhangers so the audiance stays.
As for the Protagonist being to lucky. The only thing he was really lucky with is the coiling dragon ring. When compared to other novels he is rather unlucky if you ask me. And he is someone who really works to get stronger and not some stupid power ups while fighting like in mangas and some novels.
About him being sociopathic: yes he isn't you justice freak like some people like it, because they still think that the world is black and white. Never heard of the phrase: loving friend, ruthless enemy. If he wouldn't be like he is he would already be dead.
