This manga kick major asses. I read this one long ago maybe 5 years ago. I enjoyed it alot. The art from then 2n half onwards is fantastic. Character design and development is also top notch. The story is depth and consistant. And the ending is best ending of the shounen gern i've ever seen. Its really touching and surprising. Only a weakness of the series is some fights are somehow unrealistic. Like the good guy shouts out "i wont lose to you because etc..." then beat the crap out of the bad guy even though he was losing miserable just a minute ago. But other than that everything else is excellent.

this manga is ridiculously good.
i loved this manga so much. it was one of my first and i was really impressed by the art story and characters of this manga. i especially loved how all the villains were so cool and wicked, even when they were on the good guys side they still stayed true to their nature and didn't wimp out to become nice guys, especially kurei. the thing that i loved the most though were the chapter pages where the main characters wore really cool and fashionable outfits with jewellery that would fit a rock star, and they even posed like rockstars in the the thing. as a beck fan that really appeals to me for some reason. rock on, rock on.
This manga is much better to read than to watch. Read this and forget about its animated counterpart.

A well earned 9/ 10. The drawings, the story, everything is pretty damn good.
I really liked the villains in this manga. Most of the time, i'm just not convinced by the evilness of villains in mangas. But in this one, they were surprisingly very good at being BAD :)
The bad part is that the main characters are too gentle... Sometimes the difference in coolness between them and the villains is just night and day.
You won't lose your time reading this manga :)
Oh, and Magensha rocked!

Flame of Recca is one of those old school classic Shounens that will blow you away with it's amazing art (it improves throughout the series), lovable cast of characters, and absolutely stunning fights...seriously, the god of one to one tournament fighters. MK, eat your heart out!
If you've not read this, you're not a real shonen manga fan. MUCH better than the anime.
