The strengths of this manga are truly the various characters and their development to proper adults.
They all behave realistic and reasonable, you can hate and criticize them but that's just the cruel reality.
But I am a bit disappointed, at how the story progresses halfway through …
However, if you want to read a fast-paced drama manga, with good romance (strict to the point and without the typical cliché’s) and a solid sports-mix, just give it a try! You will not regret it.
Just one Question for the guys who already read this manga:

Spoiler (highlight to view)
Did they just changed their childhood-promise from “if we are adults, lets date!”, to “when we are adults and meet again, lets fuck!?”. Was it a bad translation, or did I just get it wrong? Or they just wanted to do it? Please sent me a pm! I'm really curious about this :O

A Good Seinen Drama

A good drama with nice pacing. The first volume has them skipping from grade school to middle school to high school, with a skip to collage in volume 2. I felt that this gave you a good look at some of the major points of the characters and helped flesh them out.
The story centers mostly around a guy who's good at sprinting, and eventually tries to break 10s in the 100m. He also has a romance and a rival. All pretty standard stuff. The story shows him and his friends growing up and dealing with life.
The art's not great, but it's average for a '97 manga.

It has good pacing and nice characters. I would definitely recommend it to anyone interested in reading a seinen drama.

Pretty good comming to age tale, mixed with romance and sports. Like some other people have said, this one shares many traits with Suzuka. In a good way that is, it's not nearly as drawn out, the pacing is a lot better and so on. The characters are well done as well, and quite likable too.
There are imo 3 distinct plots in this one. First one is about 4 childhood friends and their comming to age, second part is a romance, and the third part focuses on sport. With some mixing of all theese 3 genres of course.
Plot is strong, characterisation is strong, the story is nice, the romance is nicely done too, the coming of age elements and drama elements is sweet poignant and touching at times. The pacing is great as I mentioned, if you're looking for some romance that is endlessly drawn out over 25 volumes, look elsewhere. This one is short and to the point, and still manages to capture feelings. Good stuff!
Whats not so great is the crappy, awful, rushed ending though. Even though I have no problems with this ending in 5 volumes, and I really feel the story should come to and end around the time where it did. They could easily have done it in another, and above all, better way.
However, the ending sucked, big time. What a fu#king cop out! Really, it seems they rushed the last 2-3 chapters just to get it over and done with. They were just plain weak and bad. And it really really pisses me off, to see such an ending to an othervise great manga.
Whit all that said, it's still a great read, it will keep you hooked from the start to the end.

Art is definitely one to my liking (there are really few of this type, i mean 100% ), plus a heavily twisted plot (thats not bad!), plus great chars... So, its worth 10. IMHO.
(Really dont like spoiling thing in reviews, so its kinda dumb...)

Although it was quite short, D-ASH was truly a roller coaster ride with so many ups and downs throughout. A very touching manga with many heartfelt moments. I didn't feel like the ending was that rushed, I found the last volume very sad but satisfying.
If nothing else, I found D-ASH's portrayal of drama very well done. Skips all the boring parts and gets straight to the point. But I found the whole story so sad... despite the the overcoming of the obstacles. Nevertheless, this manga is very deep in terms of content, and is definitely worth your time.

Story/Plot:-
This is a brilliant "coming of age" manga about the lives of 4 elementary school kids and how they changed and developed as they grew up.
Artwork:-
The artwork is really inconsistent, where at times it can look superb with detailed character designs and then they're other times when it looks plain sloppy
Final Thoughts:-
D-ASH is a very fast paced manga with so many time-skips in the first 2 Volumes that you'll have to constantly assess the changes in the characters lives and personalities. However this is a good thing about the manga with another being that there aren't any noticeable cliches making this feel somewhat refreshing, for a sports romance.

I wish I could edit faster too ;_;
But on a review-like note... this work was written and drawn by two separate people, so unlike many other series I've work on... it isn't a weekly rush from the mangaka to publish a work that would capture the reader's attention via... less than permanent means... Instead, the plot reads like a well done novel, since it was thought out ahead of time, and then the artist takes careful thought into creating a... well... from the reviews of readers... a "good" story ^^;;;

this manga is sweet, but like Otacu said, the scanslators seem to be really slow (maybe they have forgotten about it)
