Simply Breathtaking

This manga is simply breathtaking. Beware though, that almost everything you think you know (when you have the feeling "I finally know the truth") turns out to be false as you progress through the story. I loved the way it unfolded, like many layers of cloth covered your eyes and now that they are removed so you can see. I enjoyed almost every minute of reading it. This also is the first and ONLY manga I have ever cried for though.

This is one of those manga that I think one has to read it in their lifetimes. Because, it teaches you something. It teaches how much selfless you can be.
The premesis it started was a bit cliche. But, the 'plot twists' it had more than made up for it. From there, it turns from a King Searching for a Bride to something that no one can imagine. The philosophy it lays down is simply top class. And there is never a bit of exaggeration even with exaggerated characters, this is the beauty here.
The main character is perfect in every imaginable way. While most manga's fail to utilize this concept, this manga has truly succeeded in fully extracting its potential. It shows the flaws of a flawless character so much that you feel heavy with the characters choices and their tragedy.
In the corrupt and corporate world that we live in, we need more like these kind of manga's to stimulate youth. Being an adult myself, I think this sets up a great example for all the readers. So, I highly recommend you read this flawed flawless masterpiece

Tough to follow. A lot of the story deals with how long lived vampires would have to deal with long term politics and effects of living alongside humans without using their uber-powers to simply dominate humanity.
That said, if you CAN follow it, this story is beautifully written.

Really glad i found a manga such as Vampire Juuji Kai. It was complex, deep, had many twists and turns, a story that does not bore and awesome charcters. I was pretty much satisfied with the end and it defintely lives up to being a tragedy.
However, once the the whole truths comes out and all the conspircies are debunked, it looses its luster just a little but other than that, this deserves to be read.

This work of art truly is a well done piece. The story is so deep and complex, and with so many twists and turns, I was surprised the mangaka had actually pulled this off without making this fall apart, and using cliche and cheap fan-service tactics to attempt saving the the series.
I give kudos to the mangaka for also accomplishing those twists and the increasing complexity of the story without using any twisted/messed-up material, and yet keeping those who read this engrossed and ready for the next moment of the plot. Sure there were a few unexplained moments and extremely minor plot holes......something this complex and this great is near impossible to pull off without any(heck there is no such work with a plot without plot holes). A great mystery indeed.
In addition, the characters are amazingly magnificent in representation, presence, development and purpose. He truly utilized all the characters, and did not kill any of them(I mean plot-wise, not life). He also managed to create an extremely dynamic character, who was at the same time static as well(an insane achievement, I am not telling who it is, READ IT)
The last thing i will say is this.....i think the author purposefully employed a shoujo-style artist for this.....just to give it another twist, which is great since the story has already achieved all the good points of a shounen manga, yet also considered what shounen lacks and took care of it...and also bringing this to the intellectual level for seinen as well........Due to this this manga is now in my top ten

The beginning didn't grab my attention. It seemed cliched but because it received such high ratings, I kept going forward. I'm not a fan of shoujo-esque art but as you read on, the story improves and slowly you will find yourself addicted. Very fun read, give it a try.

Hmm.. this manga is just 1 big long tragedy. There is no good or bad... just regrets and sadness and the actions guided by those feelings. Very frustrating and depressing manga in my personal opinion. If you like vampires... you might want to pass on this one, if you like comedy PASS on this one. I finished this manga long ago and if memory serves me right, not 1 single individual ends up happy here.

At first, like many people, thought the art was not for me and the story seemed cliche, but as I read on, which I encourage everyone who thinks the story won't be a good read or would be if etc happpened, it's just great writing at it's best. Theres a lot of dialogue, a bit lack of action scenes, but other GREAT scenes that make up for it. This is one of those "what just happened, how did that happen and why is it happening to this guy.." kind of thing and man the plot twists just keep coming.
I think it's worth the read

I picked this up as I'm a fan of Shiradaira-san's work such as Spiral -Suiri no Kizuna- and I wanted to compare other works.
I first though when I started it that it's be your average shounen manga, and I was quite satisfied when it wasn't. It does seem to have a shoujo-ish feel to it due to the drama and tragedy, however I like either genre as long as the story seems interesting, so this does not bother me.
I haven't read the ending, as I'm awaiting the final volume to come up in my area. However from what I've read (being 7 volumes and a bit of the 8th) it's worth at least checking out if you like Shirodaira-san's works. Or if you don't really have a problem with both Shoujo and Shounen elements being combined into a story.
