The story is almost non-existent yet existent at the same time... Plenty of sci-fi, plenty of action, plenty of brain twisting events...really gets you thinking WTF IS GOING ON...but overall...brilliant. A must read, but be warned...it is plain wierd =P
A great work

This is a truly original and unique work. Starting from the art, which creates this omnious feeling that follows you until the very end of this manga. And also the mysterious plot deepened by the lack of words and weirdness of situations and the way these are solved. The plot however seems to have links with his new work Biomega. Enough said, this is one of the mangas that cannot be carried through with words, you'll need to read it to understand... or rather... not understand

This is the best. The art and plot beats even Naruto, DBZ, FMA, Bleach, and so many other manga.
The art is amazing.

Too many plot holes and loose ends:
I can go on... But to say it simply. Nihei has no plan for whole story.
What saves this manga is gorgeous atmosphere and art. Lack of dialogs adds to atmosphere of desolate world. No humans - no dialogs.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Who is that cyborg with dog in first volume? What organisation stands behind her? Definitely not authorities or safeguards (Killy doesn't recognize them at first meeting).
First authority was like a human child. But there are no more authorities of such model later on.
Why did that child attack humans? That's what safeguards would do.
Second time Killy meets authorities they look exactly like safeguard's exterminator model.
Why Killy seeks for net-terminal gene?
Why he abandons his search for clear genes? "Net-terminal gene" doesn't sound like "clear".

1. the artwork is lavish, detailed, copious and dark.
2. the story is good; not generic cyberpunk. it moves slowly, partly because of the artwork being so elaborative.
3. the story is also elaborated very little itself. there is little dialogue. so many people will find this manga confusing or alienating.
overall, it's great, but not easy to read. you have to really commit yourself to it.

I read this quite a while ago. It was one of my first manga. I recall that as I read it I had no idea what was going on about half the time, but it was awesome.

i am not too much into sci fi mangas. But Blame is something really atypical. The art is beautiful and the main character is extremely interesting. It's unique in its genre. It does not explain things, dialogues are very few...
but still a very good work!
