Funny and original

This manga deserves a chance, respect, and praise. It's so funny and atypical.

People who find the girl annoying are missing the point or looking for something that isn't there. Maybe they want a straight forward, bland girl. We're not privy to her thoughts, which isn't unusual in a love story, except that the comedy is at the fore front so it doesn't feel like a love story(which is a good thing).

It works as a comedy and the two main characters really work. This manga should be finding all sorts of success and it sucks it isn't(yet).

It takes abit of getting into and only really gets good after the other characters start appearing. But it is a shame that the focus had switched for Adachi and Shinagawa to just really on Shinagawa. It's just less interesting having it just focus on Shinagawa.

It's a masterpiece of highschool manga, don't you know?

If you haven't read this already and you enjoy high school manga, you shouldn't hesitate. The beginning starts off a bit slowly but as you meet the full cast, the story gets good quickly.

The theme of the story seems to be outsiders learning what it means to have friends, but there's nothing forced, nothing cheesy. The humor is from the situations, and the theme comes from the situations. There is nothing forced, and nothing preachy. The author isn't trying to talk about the benefits of friendship, but it's a theme that stays behind the laughter and the drama throughout the book.

What can I say? I love comedy. It's good at making me laugh, the heroine is hilarious, the main character is also pretty funny and interesting himself. In-between serious mangas I like reading something feel good with some plot sprinkled in. You should read if you want a good laugh with a few life messages here and there. It may not end up being be your cup of tea, but dare I say, this manga is great. Although nothing alike, this manga gives me a "gintama" type feeling, if you've read that.

It's definitely a manga about Yankees (RECOMMENDED!)

I stumbled into this manga coz I'm a fairy tail fan. Yoshikawa sensei was once mashima sensei's (fairytail) assistant (hence, the slight art similarity)... Yoshikawa seems to be too girly (in my own opinion when I saw one pic of her) BUT this manga she made is definitely pure blood SHOUNEN. And it's not your typical generic shounen, but an awesome one!
And she gave justice with the title she gave in this series coz its really full of Yankees . Both main protagonist and main supporting characters are Yankees (though Chiba isn't but he is mistaken as one due to his scary glaring eyes).. Even the so thought to be nerds were once Yankees (except for the computer club)...

I agree with the previous comment that there are two phases in this manga. First one is the randomness of the plot(coz it's a comedy manga). And the second one is where the randomness pauses a bit . Then it focuses on the real story with a lil bit of a slice of life (but I disagree that the comedy is sacrificed coz all chapters makes me laugh). And it is kinda near to my heart coz it slightly touches about being e shut in ( almost a hikikomori. I'm almost becoming one not until I go back to school this June ) and how they helped those neets to go out to the real world....

AND I unexpectedly like the humor. I really get to laugh at it. It's not really forced, but really a natural one...
Soooo check it out....

Art: 10/10 (better than fairy tail. Sorry mashima sensei. I'm ur big fan but I honestly think yoshikawa's drawing is better)

Plot : 8.5 (random plot here and there coz its a comedy manga. there are slight inconsistency. But only rare and it is not bothering the story)

Humor: 10 (it's soo natural)

Recommend ? : DEFINITELY a MUST READ!

...one last thing! ( I know my comment is long)... The chapter titles are very interesting!
So come on read it now biggrin
Last last last one! The live action series is kinda disappointing. This one SHOULD be an ANIMATION and NOT a live action...hhmmff

Honestly, I loved it. It is hilarious, addicting, and great art. The story isn't too confusing and you will easily love the characters. This is a must-read series. The updates on scans aren't that bad either so you won't really need to wait 516548651 weeks to see what happens biggrin this is rekindling my passion for it so I think I will re-read it right now (:

Decent humor, good art, and several times where it is hard to just not laugh at what is going on.
Very awesome series, can't wait to read more. This is added to my list of "Must buy" as soon as I see it in a book store.

The last review is correct. It is just sort of funny until the Student Council arc. Then, it becomes "I can't catch my breath this is so funny", mostly because of the new characters. Early on, there is basically one story----Glasses Girl tries to reform Yankee Boy but ends up acting like a Yankee herself. Good for a volume or two, but two characters can not sustain a multivolume series. Eventually, they have to grow, and their relationship has to evolve---otherwise the reader loses interest. Think of how boring "Cat Street" would be with just two characters, nothing but "Extroverted guy tries to get shut in girl to come out of the house" for twelve volumes. Once the author starts adding new characters, the possibilities for comic interactions become almost limitless.

It's so hillarious.
The first part only about 2 main character is funny but quite pointless. But after vol 4,the story is amzing.
The 2nd year started, they become the student council member, new characters invovled. It turns to a bit like GTO or Sket dance, they go around fix school problems by such a funny way.
