Why do I feel a little disappointed?

Okay first. The girl, the heroine is a crybaby and she doesn't consider other peoples feelings. With her is "Pull or push" she won't pick one and constantly pick both of them. She doesn't understand the sick boys parents because he IS gonna die and they haven't spend time together and she goes. "Oh! I'm going to steal Takuma away!"

And another thing is that brain dead means the person is dead. They won't open their eyes and give you a smile with a "Good morning." It's just a empty shell with a beating heart.

Dropped it at chapter 61. I can't take it with the crying, I know it's suppose to make my sad...but nope, I feel nothing.

All in all this was pretty good from your normal cliche.

Well, this manga kinda annoys me. I don't really know why it gets so many 10's...but that' s just me.
Anyways, let's start with the characters. Mayu. Strong, smart, beautiful. Totally great heroine, but completely perfect and nothing really differentiates her from any other perfect girl. No complexes, no birth marks or anything like that, nothing to make her special. She's just perfect, except when she cries and blushes too much. I mean, seriously, how Mayu and the Kou(i think that's his name?) guy kiss in front of takuma? plz. so cheesy and dramatic. It's so typical that yet another guy falls for the heroine. It seems that all typical shoujos have to have a heroine with multiple guys falling for her, but I wouldn't exactly call this typical. The thing is, I like how the author changed Mayu's hairstyle as she grew up. That showed progression, which I think is really important.
Takuma: Weak. He's just weak. But the thing is, if you look at him and compare him to all the other guys in the manga, he looks nothing like weak appearance-wise! I think the author needs to do a better job as depicting him as weak. Oh. But personality-wise is a different story. He is suchhhh a girl personality-wise. 'I don't want to hurt her..' blah blah. That may be sweet, but I wish he wasn't so weak and feminine. and the bleached hair? earrings? I've seriously had enough of shoujo mangas piercing the guy's ears to make him look cool! I don't understand why so many mangas do this to make the guy look cool! Like Takuma said that Mayu would hate him cuz he's changed, I hate it too. It's stupid and immature of him. And his hairSTYLE doesn't change at all! What's with mangakas, keeping the hair the same? At least Mayu changed. Ugh. So unrealistic.
I like how he blushed because of Teru though. Even though he likes Mayu, its only natural to blush. If he didn't, it would be too unrealistic coming from a weak guy like him.

Oh. And the love part. Do they really call this secret unrequited love? fail title. ITS NOT SECRET. AND ITS CERTAINLY NOT UNREQUITED. its so obvious that they like each other, and their love for eachother doesn't grow. It starts with a romantic atmosphere, and it doesn't really grow. If shoujo mangas want romance, they have to show growth. It all started lovey-dovey to me. And the whole 'she'll just be hurt in the end' from her parents, is so CHEEZY AND DRAMATIC. its just like an asian drama filled with drama. The plot? mehh...okay but with a plot you have to have unique characters. Not just characters with different personalities; I mean it has the usual playboy, d-cup bestfriend, nerd, etc. Not very special. AND childhood friends? wow. what's with manga and childhood friends? its screaming cliche. Anyways its better than typical shoujo but not a fantastic manga.

Good parts: It keeps you wanting to read more. It touches your heart slightly, but its just too dramatic for me. Read it when you're bored, but I didn't really cry from this. Recently, the chapters have been getting too stupid for me. And the mangaka killed Teru off too easily. Almost like nothing happened. WAYY too unrealistic. I mean SHE DIED. DEATH. That's big and she isn't mentioned or pitied after it really. The author would've been better off not bringing Teru into the story in the first place.

If you remove the whole 'dying at 20' plot than it would probably be the closest thing to a typical shoujo. Its good, but cmon. Don't hate me for not liking drama, but the author chose to make this dramatic. So don't tell me not to read this dramatic manga if I don't like drama cuz it could've done without it in my opinion.

SPOILER:
(I'm about 99% sure Takuma will die. They don't label it as tragedy for nothing. Plus, if he doesn't die than everything up until now would be a waste and total idiocy.)

yah...I give it a 7. Highest rating for me.

This manga is so good but it's also very sad, so sad that I don't want to finish reading it. The story is unpredictable because you really don't know if the guy is going to die or not.

I fell in love with this manga the moment I saw one of the volume covers. The art is just GORGEOUS. And I'm also a sucker for childhood romances so this easily appealed to me. if you think the plot sounds like one of those angsty, weepy Korean dramas in which one of the lovers get a terminal disease and then die and blah blah blah cliche... don't worry, this is NOT bland like that and REALLY good. It's not angsty, but bittersweet, and not sappy (I don't think)... as for the "tragic ending" I don't know about other people but I personally suspect that the mangaka has something up her sleeve. Who knows. But that's another great thing about it you know? The plot always keeps you on your toes.

I LOVE Mayu and Takuma together and I'm always trying to refrain myself from bashing my computer screen whenever I see the other third wheels (like the senpai guy and the stupid hospital girl). maaan I really want to see the ending just to make sure they end up together!!!

same mangaka of boku wa imouto(...) right? its really easy to recognize her/his artwork. anyways as much as i enjoyed boku wa imouto and asa mo hiru mo, its first volume is very catchy. a guy, who is diagnosed of sickness and will wither away at the designated age, tries to keep himself distant to the girl he loves the most because of that matter. i wish i could read more of this story so that i could give a better review but so far i like it... just like the mangaka's other works

A manga worthy of watching..

First off, I'd like to say that the drawing is a bit static, not always pretty, and strange compared to the typical "shoujo" manga style. As for the plot, characters, and the way it's depicted through the manga... it's all excellent.

The angst rains like mad, though, so unless you can stomach possible (?) character death, I wouldn't try it. It's one of those depressing stories where one of the main characters has a horrible disease, and while usually I can't read those kinds of stories, since they're often hideously melodramatic, I tried this one out and it wasn't like that at all (or maybe it is, and because I don't really read these kinds of melodramatic stories, I don't really know if it's that cliched). The little plot twists and the messed up relationships, and messed up characters.. this story keeps you on your toes.

What makes it more interesting is that so far it's been narrated by a guy, and though of course it sort of caters to the shoujo audience by the fact that he's so desperately in love with Mayu, it's still lends a certain intensity/change of perspective to the manga that you normally don't notice, what with the perspective mostly being biased towards girls (though a notable exception I think is Stroke Material xD;).

So, if you don't like tragedy-type romance, it might not appeal to you, but the romance/relationships are interesting, and the plot is very intense, and the perspective is different but it works in this type of story, though it does some brief interludes with Mayu narrating. The drawing is .. a bit bleh, but there are some nice parts, and it conveys the story rather nicely, though the way she draws eyes bugs me a bit. Still, it's worth it to read it. It's one of those stories that I wouldn't miss. ^^

I had a heart attack when I saw this manga's infinitely good quality. I was surprised because her other manga, the "I Love My Sister" one was so bad, but this one has me on my toes.
I love it.
