I can't relate to many reviewers pov that this show swiftly becomes downright moronic after a good premise. I think it just starts pretty light to get progressively more serious and complex (and sometimes yes, soapish and melodramatic), and that, apparently, doesn't please everyone.
For me, what kept the show together was precisely the lead female character bipolar personality, and the uncertainty around her feelings and behaviour (in many respects a darker kind of Madoka in Kimagure Orange Road ?). It was greatly supported by expressive art concept and drawing in critical scenes, by a good pacing of tension buildup and release, and by numerous well-thoughtout situations (eg the photography contest scene). I'm also thankful that the mangaka didn't rely too heavily on quiproquos and misunderstandings to push the story forward, making it feel more realistic than many titles i've read. Instead I find she did a good job at smoothly creating intimacy between the protagonists.
On the other hand, it's a pity she took the easy way out by just bringing down most of the credibility of male "competitors", leaving the MC as the only "default" alternative, reducing the ambient uneasiness and insecurity. There's also this universal shounen/shoujo (damn) feature that the whole universe is strictly limited to the MC's microsphere, without any casual external event whatsoever to pepper things up. But the one thing i could barely stand was the constant – and always counterproductive imo – MC's introspections and the surreal abstract sentimental lectures, to the point i eventually started skipping a lot of text.
Although overall it was too long for me too, with this genre i prefer too long over too short since it gives time to flesh out the characters and their relationships, even at the price of occasional lack of originality, repetition and awkwardness. Perhaps i enjoyed it more than most because i read it within a few sessions once it was complete ; or perhaps, as someone prompted in another review, i'm a masochist (and a moron on top of that) for being swallowed into these whimsical love games, for ending up feeling like "i want to go back to those days" ?

It's a good romantic manga, but it seems that the story will end with Shou? I really don't like it...
In the 120th chapter, they did "it". Then i think there's noway back for him to turn back to Kurogawa...

Well, everything seems to be turning out right way. The new arc will make this series end, i think it will be Good Ending after all.

However the main character is a tool who has no idea who he likes. He was head over heels for his tennis senior but his friends just shoehorn him towards another girl(Kurokawa) all while another girl is making an earnest effort to get his attention.
Doesn't matter though, if you have half a brain then you'd know from the moment he was pushed towards liking Kurokawa she would be the final pick.

the beginning was very good and the heart break moved me to tears cause iv experienced heartbreak of that caliber but from ch 30 and up it stops all progression in the story just filler chapters and is not even worth reading anymore

Not much to say yet about this except the main male character is ridiculously annoying, cowardly and weak. Art's good but the story revolving around the guy was like grating teeth.
Synopsis of 1st chapter:
If this series maintains a high score, I may give it another chance but for now, I'll be staying away from this one. I don't need more reasons to want to punch my monitor.

I only skimmed through it but the gist of it seems he is the stalking type who's too scared to get near a girl he likes. Another girl comes in and tries to force him to go straight at his love interest. He runs away like a little bitch but eventually manages to crawl back with the other girl's provocation only to run away again.

So I finally finished it

Just finished marathoning the last 22 chapters that have been rotting in my hard drive... It was "meh." For something that went longer than it should have, its two final arcs were really rushed (they were crammed into eight chapters) and ended very conveniently. The only consolation I got was that Oonuma didn't mess with the plot anymore (I hate it whenever she shows up).
I'm going to keep this short since I don't want to think more about GE than is necessary: it is one heck of an emotional investment that will put your nerves and logic to the test - and not in a good way. There are a lot of other clichéd shounen romance titles that are worth your time more.

I've read up to chapter 44, but I'm seeing where this is going, so I'll put it on hold at least for a while. The reason? Simple:
The story is not bad, but the main guy just pisses me off too much. I could bear with him being just weak and a little indecisive, but he's worse than that. He basically thinks with his penis. And what's more is that he also feels all guilty just to repeat the same mistakes everytime! I mean, seriously? I don't know if he'll be able to grow up a little in the next chapters, but right now he provokes too much rage in me to handle. So, if you're searching for a MC you can sympathize with, I don't recommend this manga. If you don't mind, then the story is fine.

The Name might say good ending....but this manga doesn't have one. >_< The melodrama is just as annoying as watching a 60yr old grandma's soap opera.....maybe more annoying. Well whatever, I dropped it at chapter 90 O_O* It became gawd damn too cheesy for me. If you want to read something as annoying, try your hand at Vampire Knight,

Shou>That one emo chick.
JS. I like the story much better now that he and Shou are canon. I never really liked the other chick or the one with the sad face and big boobs.
Well, now that the he broke up with Shou, I'm dropping the series. Thsi author is bipolar.
