IMPORTANT REVIEW

This manga is good. Despite the fact that the main character is a airhead, the brother is a useless person, a unrequited love from a friend turns into a stalking psycho, and the main male character refuses to listen to his heart, still a good manga. Pretty art, babyish actually. The twist is rather interesting to read though. You'll enjoy it, but sometimes you just want to give the girl a scream, or the male.

Sweet... and it's Funny

I don't really like shoujo manga... 90% of them are.... i don't need to mention it.
But i think this one is pretty entertaining...
The artwork is pretty good,
the mansions were drawn nice and the characters is sweet. I like when the setting of story is in early meiji era. It's rare to have a manga series which the story is in meiji era, when old japanese cultures met western cultures. Ruroni Kenshin is one of them. So this manga has historical genre in it..
The story also fun and sweet, not too depth, but the plot was built quiet good.
And what i love, how the gentle and kind prince in love can turn out to be a psycho! biggrin biggrin
Ok, i like complicated stories + intrigue when it comes to drama and romance.. and the artwork must be good, and bishounens.
But i've never seen any shoujo manga to have psycho char hahaha.. and seeing ichijou gives me chill, more than Kira (death note) biggrin
And how this manga adds one more genre : Sport.
When it's surprisingly add shogi, japanese chess, in the flow of story biggrin
I can't stop thinking about how funny n entertaining it is, but
the mangaka must play carefully because if it's take one step wrong, it can be a mess..

I've read till the recent scanslated chapter (16 & 23) but it's still too early for me to give a definite rating.

I have enjoyed it so far, despite seeing a whole lot of negative reviews about Sumi being stupid or that the plot is weak.
I read manga to destress and clear my head of things related to assignments and projects, not to analyze each character for its flaws and plots for its weakness. I get enough of analyzing and interpreting from my course already.

I hope that Ueda-sensei has a comfortable time while on her leave. biggrin

i am seriously in love with this manga!

At first i've picked this up since I've always been a fan of Ueda sensei, and really wasn't expecting any heart racing moments while reading this, but as I keep on reading the excitement gets to me and I've fell in love with it!

The first two chapters are so-so, but once you're through it the story starts to take it's pace and will have you excited.
The characters development is so good, and you can expect something much more from them, (and they're drawn so beautifully too that's its a big big plus).

I've read to the latest chapter now, and I can't wait what will happen, every episode is like a exciting adventure going on and keeps you guessing on what's gonna happen.

I really love this, and is strongly recommending to you guys to read it! smile

i dont like the characters. theyre so.....dumb. well, not in a way like the author did them badly, i just dislike their personalities and how they overdramative EVERYTHING. like, more than other shoujo mangas. it bothers me, but i still read it cause its amusing and the art is pretty

More fun than I thought

Ueda Rinko's art just keeps getting better and more detailed. She draws such nuanced expressions on the characters' faces. Of course it's cliche at the beginning, but the best kind of cliche. The kind that makes me feel nostalgic for older shoujo manga, as opposed to the kind that just makes me groan. It's such a classic premise (poor, good hearted girl +sudden money+romantic issues), but the actions of the characters sometimes surprise me. It's difficult to tell what each character really wants, which makes the story fun to read. Ueda-sensei has obviously been doing shoujo for a long time. The story reads more like a pro's fond look at classic romance than a newcomer's hackneyed rehash of stupid plots she thinks are new and fresh.

Anyway, I give this story an 8 for now. I will continue reading it.

We shouldn't be so quick to judge. It does get better around chapter 10 or so. I've read until chapter 22 and
Spoiler (highlight to view)
Souichirou learns how to cherish Sumi and a lot of cute moments happen along the way. Souichirou is not so heartless at all and Sumi is not so weak or as stupid as we think her to be. In fact, she's a genius at Japanese chess, as later chapters will reveal. Even if she was brought up in a harsh world, she was still able to become the sweet and caring person that she is. She does visit her siblings from time to time with permission from Souichirou. On the other hand, Souichirou's best friend, Nozomu is not quite the kind person he seems to be. He turns out to be a twisted person as his desire for Sumi grows very strong.

Not so good

I don't know about this one. I read and liked tsuki no shippo but I couldn't get into this one. I guess it was too cliched and too dramatic. The characters seemed weak and the story was heading off in a direction that I didn't like.
EDIT: After more chapters I'll released I'll give it another try since I read blottyparchment's summary of chapters to come. I only read up to chapter 3. We'll see. But where did you find the later chapters?
