Read it

First up, I was surprised at how spunky the heroine turned out to be... on the first cover I saw of this she looked kind of ditzy so I was pleasantly surprised this was not the case.

Anyways, Teru (as stated before) and Kurosaki are both very likeable and interesting characters and watching the relationship between them unfold is one of the best aspects of this series. As well as that the mystery of Kurosaki's past as well as DAISY's connection with her brother keep the reader intrigued and waiting impatiently for new chapters.

All in all, this is a great shoujo and highly recommended for shoujo fans.

Read this manga!

READ THIS MANGA!

I truly do enjoy reading this. It is nice to see the female lead is not selfish and looking for excuses to be crying. She is even self-sacrificing (when it is called for). And unlike many other female leads in a shojo manga, when someone puts doubt into her mind about the people she cares about, she does not do ridiculously stupid things that make the situation worse. (Although she at times does stupid things, but not the kind that makes you wish the female lead would be replaced). Teru at times seems very mature in how she answers about her feelings. She is not out seeking drama in order to move the story forward, which makes this a nice manga to read.

It has a plot where while your reading and enjoying the romance, your wondering about the mystery that surrounds Kurosaki and other things like Teru's brother. (I'll say no more, don't want to spoil anything).

The artwork is nice as well, which is a plus!
It is also quite funny.
I do hope the magaka will keep up all the good work.

Not bad at all

A very good effort by Motomi-sensei. These days, I tend to judge the quality of shojo by the level of annoyance I feel while reading it (that's how bad I think shojo has become). However, I am happy to say that while reading Dengeki Daisy I felt little, if any, annoyance. The main character is probably nothing special, but at least she's not irritatingly weak/stupid/whiny. I feel that what makes this manga, though, is the amount of development that Motomi-sensei puts in to the character of Kurosaki. He's not faultless, he doesn't know how to handle girls (especially Teru), he's awkward and rough. It's rare in shojo that the reader can consider the leading man as a fully-fledged character rather than just a chunk of eye candy. And I would say that about equal number of pages and panels are devoted to each main character, as opposed to everything being seen from the girl's perspective.

My only concern is that Motomi-sensei will fall back onto to tired old shojo cliches in order to prolong the series. I certainly hope not because that would severely diminish his achievement. (I think Motomi-sensei is a man?)

A high school girl who fell in love with a lolicon janitor
by erieh

Rating: 9.0  / 10.0
Part/s I liked:

-The story has transitioned from having one obvious goal in mind to uncovering a much more serious issue. Revealing Kurosaki Tasuku’s real identity was just the tip of the iceberg, and of course we somehow expected that there was more to his past and the people surrounding him.

-Character design? Well, I kind of liked Tasuku’s art; he is so freaking hot!

-Character and story development. The author never intended to hide Daisy’s identity from the readers and that’s fine. What mattered was how Kurosaki was supposed to play both the lolicon janitor and the mysterious benefactor without giving himself away. I didn’t expect the big reveal to be a little early in the story, but again, it was just the entrance in a tunnel. The revelation was just to prepare everyone for a darker road concerning Kurosaki and Teru’s past.

-Romance. I have read a lot of shoujo manga where the FL was initially having troubles sorting her feelings out, but Teru was outspoken on her feelings for Kurosaki and vice versa. I was glad that it didn't add to the drama that could potentially hinder a much more important piece of the story.

Part/s I didn’t like so much:

-Deus ex machina. Whenever something big came up, it seemed too good to be true. To me, it felt like it was forced. While I did love the progress (the result, how it turned out) of the story as contrary to what I just said, what I didn’t like was the WAY it was handled. I kept thinking that if those tiny details didn’t happen in the first place, there was no way the story would move forward. It was as if the next parts of the story relied on a simple incident and I didn’t like how unnatural that went.

Stick to romance and only romance if you can't draw action

Pros: Fluff. Enough pining and drama to keep you engaged for a time. Avoids a few cliches but...

Cons:
1. The manga is bloated. The story should have ended in max 15 chapters.
2. There are walls of text, interactions and flashbacks that add 0 nuance or insight into the story
3. Author made a bad decision to write crime drama sub genre, with ZERO ability to draw anything beyond blushing faces. If she spent more effort learning to draw action scenes instead of useless stencilled background every panel she might have made a more convincing story. The action art is beyond disgusting. This author is adding to the "women can't draw action scenes" stereotype. [Begs forgiveness from FMA author-sama]
4. The entire crime-drama genre was a shallow, lazy and poorly written device to drag the manga on and on and on.
5. The villains placements are terrible. It's like their entire motives amounted to nothing more than getting in MCs way of getting hooked up. How conceited do you have to be to expect pro hackers and shite to devote their entire life to get in the way of your love life?

This isn't trashiest trash. But it's 4 out of 10 for wasting people's time with nonsense.

Such a journey

I cried at least 10 times I'm not even joking.

This manga was such a journey. I'm going to say off the bat that not everyone is going to enjoy this because it's definitely a shoujo but it's not your usual sappy high school romance. It's more about the drama and development of relationships and characters more than the romance.
I think the most important thing is that you can't go into this expecting romance. because you won't find it that easily. Teru and Kurosaki's relationship develops through their struggles and insecurities, situations thrown at them and how they deal with it together and not through your typical blushy atmospheric scenes where they swear their love for eachother. Yes, the romance is there but it's there in a less obvious and, in my opinion, a much more realistic way than your usual shoujo. That's one of the things that made me love this couple.

Leading on, Teru and Kurosaki are honestly one of the most believable couples out there. During the whole of the manga, you can see their relationship get stronger and stronger because of such situations. I can say the same to the main characters too. Teru has an amazing character development and so does Kurosaki, they learn to trust.

I especially love Akira. The things he went through were dark and it added a nice mature twist to a shoujo.
All in all, some of the best characterisations I've ever read.

The story is confusing as hell at times. It's intricate and interesting but I can see how some say it drags on and gets boring. There are a lot of sharp turns and things jump from one way to another quite quickly and I had to go over some chapters again to try and figure out what the story was trying to say. The explanations are wordy and use terminology that I didn't understand but in the end, it's worth it to understand.

I gave it a solid 10 although I do have to say,
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
the ending was super cute with the foreshadowing of the baby but it felt a little unfinished? Like I wanted to know what actually happened with their relationship after Teru left high school?
And more fluffy romance scenes would have been nice. Anyway serious review over my god imdying I love them so much. This manga,,, this manga left me in a pool of feels and tears. It's one of those reads you can't get over and you wish never ended ugh. I love. Kurosaki and Teru. What am I going to do with my life now

Great Characters, Cliched Story
by the jabberwocky
January 23rd, 2016, 8:05am
Rating: 9.0  / 10.0
I've rated this manga so high because the characters in the story are amazing. They're what kept me coming back repeatedly. There are actual laugh-out-loud funny moments, and it doesn't rely too much on cliched behaviours (ie. the female lead constantly making the same mistake over and over, or issues because people won't communicate over basic things) there are some of course, but for the most part it steers clear.

That said the story is wayyyy over the top, and the romance just drags on and on and on with no real satisfying end, The two leads finally kiss and confess but there was never any doubt that would eventually happen so while it was kinda nice to see the fact it never progresses beyond that is a bit of a let-down.

I love the characters and the character interactions but in terms of plot I've seen better.

I am almost finished, but I will sadly be taking a break from it or not picking back up. I love the mangakas other work, expected the same from this, and at first it was entertaining. The story feels a bit dragged towards the middle through end. I hate to say this, but it probably should have ended earlier. sad

the characters are all so beautifully drawn and the love story around teru and kurosaki is just so adorable! the other characters have been well written (and drawn!) as well, aiding to the plot and development of story and characters
the recent chapters have been a bit wordy and but THE most recent chapter has returned to its former glorious cuteness smile
it's very typically shojo however the main girl is smart and strong, not the typical crybaby! not the incredibly naive either!
a must read for someone looking for shojo, funny and a strong heroine

So...

This series is not hard-core shoujo. If you're a hard-core shoujo fan and have no plans to read anything but that, you can stop reading this review and stop reading the manga. You're not going to get the sappy "high-school" romance that you want.
I have to say, Motomi Kyousuke in this–––she definitely hit her high point. The character development is astounding, both in the main male character (in which it is obvious), and the female main character (where it is masterfully subtle). In its own way, the plot is gripping, allowing the reader to be pulled in by the romantic tension and suspense (from the mystery of her brother) without weighing down the whole story. There are shoujo elements which simply cannot be ignored, preventing a dark overtone. No matter how deep the characters get, I still have a reassurance that this manga will not end badly, nor will it be too morbid.
That said, the general high points of the story are the character development and the main character herself. She is witty and intelligent, making for good dialogue interaction with the male lead. I also consider the plot to be a high point, despite that many have called it "slow." Compared to other shoujo, they are probably right, but if the plot were to move any faster, I think the story would lose so much. It would lose the ability to portray its characters in the proper light and its credibility as a "unique" shoujo.
Some of the lower points of this manga are, in some places, the muddled plot and the art. Now art is subjective thing, but the art in this, unless you prefer this style, is not going to meet anyone's standards of typical, pretty shoujo. I, for one, like this manga-ka's style, but I thought I should point out the roughness of it. The other thing that prevents this series from being a 10 is the confusion surrounding the plot. While most of the time, the manga-ka does a wonderful job at keeping the suspense going without making it too heavy or overdramatic, she fails at the juggling act more than a few times. Sometimes I feel that in order to lighten up the mood, she adds a typical shoujo fluffy scene, but it ends up out of place, rather than a well-executed mockery of shoujo cliches. There is also the cloudiness surrounding each element of the "mystery." I put it in quotes, because it is actually quite predictable by shoujo standards. Each element of the mystery that is unraveled is generally quite lucid, but there are times when I just have to say "What?" as if she just made a mistake in revealing something or didn't tell the readers enough to want to finish reading. Thankfully, this has only happened a few times thus far.

All I can say is, if you're open to shoujo, read it. My only question would be, for how much longer can Motomi Kyousuke keep up the previously mentioned balancing act? After this series ends, I will probably adjust my rating to account for that.
