A waste of a perfect idea

This manga is.. Rushed to say the least. It was a great potential of an idea but in the end fell flat due to inability to write plot. Events happen seemingly randomly. and everyones seemingly godlike powers never seem to get used for anything other then plot clean up instead of actually fighting. It tries to create drama and suspense but even that seems to fail as there is no real repercussion.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Like seriously, how many times does he get his hand chopped off?!?!?
Worst part I think is that the characters themselves don't stay steady. There is no character growth, just sudden switches in personality, along with sudden no reason backstory changes. Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Like Iyo who started off as a sweet innocent girl who was so sheltered she acutallly believed that being touched by a man would get her pregnant(Which, oddly enough did but was really just an side effect of her power) but then next time we see her she's now determined to get it on with the Enji saying she knew she was always destined to be with him. Like what?!
. Really I only read because Iyo is my Wifu.. well was, stupid random pointless character changes! It had such potential. sadly this person wrote it instead.doesn't recommend this..

you shouldn't compare two different series, even if it's from the same mangaka. not all of the people knew or remember it. (I am the one who forgot it). it's like you encourage them (the new reader to this series) to read other series. You should make comment, from your point of view of THIS series only. (well, different people have different approach)
___
for me, this is the kind of series which doesn't enrich its reader, a work of fiction that just need to be drawn.
The art is close to average. The story is not well-thought and its development is really rough too.
some events executed hastily. The change of its characters' emotion is too sudden,, 'jump around' like little kids. Really shounen-like manga.
couldn't even give 4 or 5 out of 10 rate. (average art and not good enough story equal to 5-6 out of 10 rate. This series is below that)
sorry, for making this kind of comment, but that's what i really felt. (maybe it's just i haven't read enough this kind of series)
Hope, I'll need to change this comment in the future.

Big Order is a pointless, identityless and even more juvenile "remake" of Mirai Nikki (6/10). Mirai Nikki itself totally fell apart as it went on and ended up being burdened with endless spin-offs. I ain´t staying around to see history repeat itself, especially as the first 2 volumes are already a semi-competently drown joke. Better luck next time but I am already willing to write off Esuno Sakae as a mangaka not worth my time. Especially if i consider that his debut work is similarly weak. Read a superhero comic instead.

I read only the first chapter so far. It a great story and is very creative. My only problem is the grammar. The translators do not use English grammar the best, which bothers me quite a bit. It is free and I am grateful so I won't complain. I recommend it.
So far, it doesn't appear to be good

Eiji's power has the potential to be a game breaker, yet it really irks me how he can't do anything with it, letting himself getting pushed around by others. It is fairly risky to the consistency of a work to give a character a nigh-omnipotent power (reality warping, controlling stuffs...), and it seems that this work is going down the same path. In his position, I can imagine countless of effective ways to use the power (getting under control the big Ten seems pretty obvious, extending his domain before engaging in combat, giving some good orders...).
It's also fairly rushed, and unrealistic. Fairly surprised that the use of nuclear weapons appears to be done very casually and carelessly, given the taboo that I seem to get from manga, but then again, it's the kind of series where people die for no good reason here and there. Characters-wise, I don't like Eiji, again, he seems to be too stupid to use his power effectively. He does have some moments of coolness, but most of the time he's a wuss. Rin on the other hand is fairly interesting, but she seems to be fairly erratic, and as others have nicely put it, an idiot - a sort of jarring opposite to Yuno (except for the psycho part). Other characters are fairly undeveloped, but the series has only started, so not much can be said. And the pregnancy, whoa, a "harem" where one girl is trying to kill you while the other is pregnant, this is interesting at the least.

I predict that the one that is the main culprit for the incident often refered to in the story is not Horisimiya Eiji but in fact his step sister Sena who wish the world destruction which could be speculated cause by her illnes etc... this can be further supported due to Eiji incomplete memory and the fact his sister survived but this can be considered vice versa if he is instead the true culprit!
Interesting but erratic

(Only 6 chapters have been released as of this comment) Its hard to get a grasp on the story since its so early in the story, but one thing is for sure. ALL the characters in this story have some bizarre or messed up personalities or motivations. Whether the author fleshes things out well remains to be seen.
A masterpiece.

Wow, chapter 5 was awesome. I really like the theme of this manga though, since the main character really IS the bad guy of the story. His power not only caused the destruction of the world that killed millions, he also killed his own parents and injured his sister to boot. And now he is the "leader" of a group that aims for world domination where order users will reign over normal humans. While that plot it's kind of common, like in X-men and his "Brotherhood of Mutants" where Magneto and his gang of "evil" mutants want a world where mankind will be subjugated by mutants, this is the first time where they are not the antagonists but the protagonists of the story. And I'm not talking about mangas like "Hajimete no Aku" or "Ratman" since in those stories the protagonists are members of "evil" organizations, but those so called "evil" are in fact, the good guys that fight against the injustices and corruption of the so called "heroes". No, here we have a protagonist that has killed uncountable lives and is the leader of a group that preaches supremacism. Add a yandere heroine and the only thing I have against it is that is serialized in a monthly magazine, Shounen Ace so we have to wait a whole month for a new chapter. Besides that, this manga is right now surely one of my favorites. Highly recommended.

did anyone notice how this manga is much more "polished" than Mirai Nikki? (the flow of the panels, the crisper lines, better plot flow, better backgrounds and screentones. obv the newer manga would be more polished, but the difference between the end of Mirai Nikki and the beginning of Big Order surprised me.)
interesting, as other reviewers have said. this is much more generic shounen than Mirai Nikki, however, with usage of the characters screaming out the name of their power (KAMEHAMEHA!) and the setting (what with the characters running around rampant with superpowers).
i disagree that the assassin chick is like Yuno. yeah, they're both crazy and the love interest, but mostly there's two different factors: Rin is more emotionally dependent plus she's gunning for Eiji.
Rin being immortal is kind of iffy for me, Mirai Nikki having a huge mortality theme and whatnot. not being in constant danger (yet) is less of a page-turner for me.
Big Order obviously doesn't stand on its own yet with its comparisons to Mirai Nikki. i wish the author would've taken more time to let shit hit the fan so we could've seen more of Eiji's character...

It has interesting plot so far. Also to greymouser, you mentioned that this manga got it's inspiration from togashi, but that is dead wrong. That arc in yu yu hakusho where that concept pops up is a parody of a much more famous work, the JoJo's bizarre adventure series. YuYu hakusho was written by force almost and the author mentioned in the work that he did not want to write it longer, but had to bc of the editors and the situation in the jump back then. He experimented with a lot of things, bringing obvious cliches and toying with it(frequent battle tournament, and the cliches in battle tor was broken often) and parodying a lot of mangas. Those binding and territory theme was from JoJo. Also, have you noticed that thorn demon in YuYu was an obvious parody of saint seiya?
