Holy fucking shit .This is ,this is ...... epicccccccccccccc. One of the manga has the epic ending . I was kinda scare that the manga will end in confusion ,unsatisfied shit like other seinen manga i have read , guess what is not . The 2 last chaper are breathtaking so fucking awesome , The story over all is very interested and amusing , the character develope petty well as for me i like kano character develope most (Because his is a epic main char) . It aslo very dark and pretty deep , some chapter i have to read over and over to graps it meaning ( i think ?) .The nudity and gore may be make you feel a little uncomfortable at first but more you read it ,you will ignored it pretty fast and it also make the story more dark feeling in it . The art honestly was not my type of art , althought i may fit the story well give us more mind fucked feeling. Freesia over all was a very good manga and the ending was the thing i enjoy the most , make it even more epic ( Kano so fucking badass )

Intriguing, if a bit bland

Jiro Matsumoto is a smart author with a whole lot of intriguing ideas, but I just couldn't really get into this one. This may just be my brain not being able to wrap my mind around Matsumoto's superior intellect, but it seemed as if the manga just sort of floated on with nothing much to say. There's an interesting philosophical inquiry or psychological idea here or there, but nothing to really latch onto. I think one of the reasons for this is due to the lack of a "normal" character that the reader can identify with. Kano is out-of-this-world crazy, Mizoguchi is an objectively terrible person, we're never really able to see the events through Higuchi's eyes, and Yamada, the closest thing the manga has to an average human being, is bland and uninteresting. However, I'm sure dedicated readers (who don't mind the rough artwork) can find much depth here, especially if they're a fan of Matsumoto's other work. Unfortunately, Matsumoto didn't draw me into his characters and world enough to really make me care about what he's trying to say.

Loved it

Just finished re-reading it a second time.
I can honestly say that I did not notice nudity or gore... or more like, it was there I guess, but ... after Berserk pretty much any amount of nudity and gore seems average.

I liked Kano. Paradoxically, he seemed to be the most sane character in the manga (especially out of the main cast). He kept searching for himself and for the reason people do things.

It was also funny how people reacted to Kano.

I have respect for the coffee-house waitress.

Not Funny?

To me this was kind of funny and very good. Maybe I have a strange sense of humor but parts of this were funnier than most comedies I've read. Like for example when Kano and Kieta were watching tv, she flipped it to a channel with static and he said that that channel was fine, and he stared at it for a long time. I think Kano is just a wonderful and very interesting character in general and he's hard to figure out. I think thats what makes him so interesting. About him being apathetic. Yes, he is very apathetic but its not too unrealistic their are people out there like that, and plus he is
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
insane to begin with.
This manga reminded me of Eden (ENDO Hiroki) in some ways. The way the story was told. But the difference between them, and one reason I think its so good is
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
he tried to tell basically a hopeless society using more psychological roots.
Idk if thats really a spoiler but anyway. The art style was very nice. It was dark and sketchy and definitely set the mood. The characters were wonderful, all of them. They were not the best characters in the world but i thought they were unique and pretty well developed. I was confused about one thing and the ending was confusing but it was supposed to be. Overall wonderful ending and awesome manga, Jiro has my respect.

WTF? amazing overall

first of, i think this manga is bloody amazing. the last volume just make my heart jump so much i cant breath. however, i only get this from the 'atmosphere' it emit. if you are the type that do not like unexplained happening or deus ex machina in their manga, don't read this. kano is just....god. no other way about it. i mean, his delusions and apathy are entertaining but you might throw your tankobon out with the last two chapter.
however, regardless of the last two chapters, the others previously are very good and interesting. trying to dechiper kano's delusions are fun, and the other's psychotic breakdown is also entertaining. the odd philosophical bits here and there is also good i guess.
kano i think is a good main character. not evil nor good, just soulless being that try to find his way in the chaotic world. all the other characters are good too, i especially like yamada and his (spoiler) degeneration from an upstanding citizen to a backstabbing rat (end spoiler)
the universe this is set on is also interesting. because such universe is very compatible with the premise of vengeance killing that set the motion of the story. also, it is fully used toward the end of the chapter because (spoiler) of the bombing kano lost his prey, that woman die and everything come tumbling down (end spoiler).
all in all, i recommended this to anyone that's okay with non moralistic story.

The character is weird.. He doesn't care about anything, is too apathetic, and he
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
watches impassively as a woman gets raped right in front of him, and he doesn't care or even blink. He also talks to people that aren't there
He has no social skills, lives with a cheating girlfriend for no reason really.

This is a very boring manga and I don't see why everyone likes it. I've had my own share of gore (I read guro) but this was just tasteless.

the ending!!

well art wise it is not one of the best and story wise it's the same but I still give it a 9 because it is a manga thet makes you think about all kind of stuff and I have to say this manga is worth reading just for the last 3 pages...when I read them I felt like I saw the whole manga in a new light... it's a little bit comperable with the ending of code geass (from the feeling, not the aktual story)

and no this manga doesn't end at chapter 80 but 82!!

So much to think about

To me this is one of the mangas really making me think the most. It's constantly keeping me on the edge and always makes me wonder about the moral issues and symbolics. It doesn't only goes into psychology, but feels extremely political to me (with pro and (much more often) contra death sentence only beeing one of the most obvious parts), and I like that.

This is what I specifically like about Seinen so much, and this is what I love Freesia for, too.

Finally gave this a try

Sometimes confusing, always depressing and quite deep. I'm not too into the art of Freesia but it does have a certain appeal to it. The pacing can be chaotic and even just weird at times but there was always a certain amount of interest keeping me going. This is a very depressing and dark kind of work but it is also very complex in what it tries to portray and give meaning to. Entertaining at times, sickening at times, I continued to read and my persistence was rewarded with a satisfying ending. These days most stories either in movies, books, manga, anime and games almost always lack a good ending, much less a satisfying one. I would have rated Freesia a 5 but the ending had enough meaning to make Freesia a 7. My rating doesn't really matter though, since it's only my opinion. Try Freesia if you want to form your own.
