My sister and I both read this series, and she loved it. I thought it was too one-dimensional. but then again, she's seven years old.
Anyways, lil girls will probably enjoy this.

Amusing, but not quite "good"

Being a hardcore Disney fan, I just had to read this. The premise sounded, well, not very deep or as subtly meaningful as I expect real Disneys to be, but well, I still bought the whole set (the manga was published in Germany). Kilala is a Disney Princess fanatic and she would do anything to be like her idols. Through completely unrealistic circumstances that make little to no sense, she encounters Prince Rei of Paradisos and launches into an adventure with him to find the seventh Princess (the first six being Disney Princesses that Kilala and Rei meet while travelling through different Disney Worlds).
Kilala Princess is epically corny and has no meaning or depth beyond Kilala being happy about meeting her idols and being a notorious goody-goody with no character development whatsoever. She is so underdevelopped that all interaction with the Prncesses felt forced, and I felt really bad for the poor Disney characters. Rei and Silvia (the inevitable fiancée) were just like Kilala in that department. Instead of having layered personalities with actual motives, they stayed bland and hollow for the complete series, never gaining any depth.
Another thing that bothered me was the drawing style. While the artist managed the depiction of the Disney characters beautifully and true to the originals, Kilala and the other "new" characters clashed with the Disney style. While the individual Disney characters didn't necessarily have the same style, they still kind of fit with each other. Kilala and her peers, however, looked horrible misplaced and awkward within the Disney settings, and I was quite dissatisfied with that.
Apart from that, it was an enjoyable but shallow read.

When I first started reading this manga, I rolled my eyes and gagged as I took in the corniness of the series. A girl named Kilala, who's obsessed with the Disney princesses, meets a boy named Rei who is looking for the "Seventh Princess" and the two go off on a crazy adventure in which they meet each of the Disney royals. It took me a couple of chapters to get into it, but I have to admit I really started to like it by the end. I'm a big fan of the Disney movies and so it was kind of nostalgic to see them portrayed in a manga. Yeah sure, its can be a typical, cliched romance manga, but I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to relive their Disney days.

After reading all volumes I can say that it is a shoujo for sure and a cute simple one. Sewing together all Disney's princesses stories and gathering from each one it's most beautiful experience, Kilala's story is born. It is a very naive and fantastic story. You can read it when needing a little cute and light mood time without "real" world ugliness and bitterness. I can say that it was funny to see Disney's princesses drawn so well in a manga format...

Although I quite enjoyed reading the first volume, this series matched up too much with Kingdom Hearts. Go around the Disney worlds and find your best friend. And because of that, i wasn't particularly interested in another volume. Although, it'd be interesting to watch how the two relate and differ.
Hmm...

I can't say much about this manga since I pretty much skimmed the first chapter of the first volume released by TokyoPop. That being said, I'm not deterring you from reading/buying it. The story could have a potential to be a good one, I guess.

The manga pretty much starts out [if you know how all the stories told in all of Disney's princess films (i.e., Cinderella, Snow White)], weaved together. I found it to be very awkward (and creepy) given the similarities from the film (complete rehash) and combine it with Kilala's. The same can be said for the artwork (very creepy). I had to put down the manga after that.
