Starts well but then becomes very dull

I had high expectations for this series but after the 1st 40 chapters the story and battles become dull.
Our hero who is supposed to have this large amount of power keeps getting overpowered.
He has fallen so far down the food chain with all the new characters introduced and even Wolf getting stronger than him.
The training he is undergoing for about the last 15 chapters in the manga is focused on close combat which is contradictory to his strengths. The author should have rather had him undergone training to improve his energy based offense and defense.
The battles and story have become so generic.
I have nothing positive to say about the manga for the last 20 or so chapters.

My sense of humor is quite peculiar so I didn't think I was going to like the series, I was so wrong...
I find it very fresh (it has plenty of topics, mind you, but with a touch that gives it a unique feel).
It's very worth a try, very entertaining and the fights are fun (and short, yaaaay).

For the first ten or so chapters, Blood Lad lacks something. The art, the comedy, the Staz is pretty excellent. The plot seems a bit...."why are we here again?" at times, but then again, many manga stumble out of the gate before sprint. But the biggest issue I think is the attention the main heroine gets from the other characters--and how as a reader you don't UNDERSTAND WHY. You start to think her entire purpose is nothing but fan service. Her character lacks luster and then her character design--sigh. It's quite sad that you're supposed to be okay with Staz and others tripping over themselves to help her when in reality all you want to do is just let her die.
But that was the first ten, eleven chapters. Then things start to get intersting. New characters with new relationships and the Demon World starts to really take shape (along with teh people in it). And plus, I like the familly theme goin' on. Liz and Braz are favorites of mine, especially Braz. You can never have enough schemes in a manga. And last few chapters, I've actually liked the lead heroine. She's starting to mellow out in a way. I think the author origianlly wanted her to be the straight man of the manga, but she couldn't quite decide how to go about it and now it feels like she's finally found the right balance and place for her in the manga other than ecchi moments. I still hate her character design, but what can you do?
Anyway, 25 chapters deep and I'm in. As of now Blood Lad is a solid 8 in my book. Hopefully it will keep climbing.

I have mixed feeling concerning this series. There are good things; the art is great, the setting is interesting, the protagonist is charismatic. But on the other hand I feel something is lacking. The character's motivations have little coherence, the plot is a bit rambling, and I can't stand the freaking heroine! Annoying dumb b*tch imo.
So yeah, I'm probably gonna check out the releases from time to time but it's not a series I especially look forward to.

The concept is original, the art is good, the characters are okay and have their own way of thinking,... but something's lacking, to the point that I stopped reading at some crucial moment. I think what is lacking is simply the belief of the author, because it feels like apart from the figures, there is no real "story-external" emotion in this manga.

This is a manga that I came across while i was looking for new manga to read..and Im glad I picked up and read it..it is super funny and just crazy! The main character is just the best he is not your usual main character, This is a very good manga..where yo see super bad ass character and some fighting actions. This is like totally worth reading..you will get hooked on it..and if you haved watched anime as long as the main character and pay attention to all the other anime references made in this manga..you ..will crack up..I guaranty it..The main character is a otaku vampire which is totally funny XD...he comes across a human girl that for reason ended up in the demon world..and then he decides he wants to help her get back to the human world (aka he wants to visit Japan which is the capital of anime and such)..and a bunch of crazy stuff happens in between!..don't pay attention to me..just read it..just read..and you shall see...
As of yet it seems like one of those generic mainstream battle/ecchi manga that gets big for no reason and dies. Hopefully Kodawa-sensei has more up his sleeves than that, as the story doesn't seem inherently bad and I can see a lot in the series. Only time will tell if this story can improve past the mediocre rating I feel is fitting at the present time.
*Update*: 4 months and my opinion of it has dropped... No structure to the story, just a whole bunch of "Gambit Pileups" every which-way you turn.

There's a lot of derivative mangas out there. I didn't know what to expect from this one when I first read it. You've got a leader of a demon world who's a japan-fan otaku--oh yeah, and he happens to be a vampire. Then enters the busty Japanese human girl into his realm by accident. Who becomes a ghost.
First of all, there's fanservice here, but it's light and humorous. No accidentally falling into sexual twister positions. His vampire powers are different with predescribed limits. He's not a hentai otaku--there's elements of that in other characters, but light, humorous, and other than what you normally expect. The art is clean and simple, yet aesthetic. (Attempts at real muscular definition on the males! No plankboard featureless bodies!) No over-engineering on the shading.
The ghost girl has the Japanese ghost headdress and that's it. No wafting immaterial powers, hovering candle flames over her head or immaterial body.
Nice action scenes. No over-the-top comedy. An enjoyable read that's a welcome break from the same-old same-old.
Give it a try.

Great read. I'm reading this initially because it's a vampire manga that has a good synopsis but I didn't expect it to be that good. The latest translated chapter show more emotions on the character. It's really fun read.
Early days but has hope.

I think the plot is interesting. A totally unmotivated guy trying to bring something back to life. The Romance and comedy haven't been fully shown yet, but it flows well, and the battles look like they'll be exciting.
