Dont care what anyone says - this manga rocked = the ending too - the only thing i would have asked for is more of Koyoki and Maho -

The only downside to this would have to be that you cannot actually experience the music as you can in the Anime - i actually saw the anime first when it was first on the air - just read the manga start to finish in the last 4 days - i really really hope they come back and do a second season to the Anime so we can hear more great songs!@

Definitly an inspiring story and a great read - i had goose bumps through 70%~!~

Unless I'm mistaken this is the only serious Rock manga out there. It's kind of bland (regarding story, art, dialogue) for the most part however it does have a long list of conflicts so it is interesting.

I really dont want to talk further about it since the last chapter was just a summation of events and I'm slightly annoyed by that. If I continued to review this manga it would only become a rant about how dissatisfying the final volume was.

i have read up to volume 4. All i can say so far is that the story is really interested. The plot is okay, story ok, characters ok but the art kind of suck. Hopefully it will get better later on

This is such an awesome manga! It's one of those few over-30 volume manga that gets better as the story progresses, as you witness the fledgling start of a small indie band and their ultimate rise onto the world's stage. I especially love the author's depictions of the small club concerts and the rock festivals - his illustrations are so expressive that it feels like you are actually there in person.

This manga has it all - music, rockfests, comedy, drama and a dash of romance. I can't recommend this enough. And don't be put off by the first chapter's illustrations - it gets much better!

funny how torrentchan compared this manga to the "classics". In my point of view classics count as something thats a little older such as titles like candy candy. i guess works done by adachi mitsuru (touch, rough, H2, cross game) or takahashi rumiko (author of ranma1/2) may count for some. the point im trying to make is that the definition of classics are highly variable and i believe this manga is actually good enough to be considered a classic by many once it ages a bit more. Many people draw comparisons between the old and the new and this behavior is something that can be observed in many different aspects of our lives. For one, music, art, tv shows, even terrible events like wars are compared. I for one do not think that this can be a good way to measure anything since older gens will always reflect back and prefer to favor the oldies while the younger generations will think otherwise. In case of music, many people often say music is becoming worse and worse. basketball fans argue that kobe bryant cant compare to michael jordan etcetc. I dont actually think anything is actually degenerating or depreciating in value as many people say that it is. In some ways the future is much more promising and as such, we can also say that beck in a way is much better than the stuff of old. i can go on and on with this so ill just end this here. beck is a good manga and i think people should try it and compare it with present works isntead of reflecting upon works of the past. i would give it a solid nine which a rarity in shonen works.

The songs: few of the best, especially slip out.

The art: Not so good, i rather the anime art since it is more presentable.

the plot: goes well smoothly, i like how there is love, yet does not focus on it too much.

the characters: Koyuki is just too cute, ryousuke really cool, saku so loyal, taira is the intellect, and kiba is the reliable punk. All characters holds their own characteristics that you learnt o identify and love.

I've stopped reading BECK and am waiting patiently (ok, no so patiently) for the own series to be released >_<

9/10, for everything i've mentioned, it gets a 8/10, the extra one point would be for the amazing songs.
The missing point would be that this anime/manga could be better, amazing, but not to the point of a 10. My 10 would be for the classics, like Hikaru no Go, Romeo Blue Skies, 12 kingdoms, legend of basara, etc.

I started reading this manga and watching the anime at the same time. And I didn't expect to even like it, but I started and I wouldn't stop. I just started it yesterday and now I'm on volume 29, yeah all in one day. I really like it, and I recommend it. The characters develop very well(except for ryusuke and taira tho, taira stayed good the whole time, but I don't think ryusuke changed that much at all). All throughout the manga, I keep asking when Koyuki will ever grow taller, like real taller, haha. But I seriously do recommend it, if you haven't read it yet, read it now.
