BECK is the story of fourteen-year-old Yukio Tanaka. He has no hobbies, bad taste in music and his shy and neurotic personality make him his own worst enemy. Little does he know that his life will be forever changed when he meets rocker Ryusuke Minami, an unpredictable sixteen-year-old with a cool dog named Beck. Ryusuke inspires Yukio to get into music, and the two begin a journey through the world of rock 'n' roll dreams.
Note: Won the 26th Kodansha Manga Award for Best Shounen in 2002 (shared with Sakigake!! Cromartie Koukou).

A major manga : you can't avoid it if you have any interest in rock & roll .
-is there another artwork which has better depicted the creation and the rise of a band ? there is a strong documentary trend in this manga about the music distribution network and it is also a nice introduction to the rock music world with many references to its legends .
- from the mere point of view of art
with its OST's and its anime version it becomes a landmark in the manga history : except RedGarden which is very recent , no one else has showed such a synchronism between the action and the music .

ilove beck.. same goes for anime.. a good way to learn guitar i guess ^^
if you play guitar.. somehow u can relate to them..
amust read/watch ^^ i hope the manga goes more than the anime

godlike...
very good character development. I really like how the magnaka is a huge fan of the chili peppers. and the art is superb. great story for any band junkies out there.
i still droll over Lucille wonderful guitar and they look exactly like their real life counterparts.
hell the soundtrack from the anime is great too. I have it on my Ipod

When it comes to music, BECK is the best manga there is!
The drawing in the first part is not that good, you'll just have to bare with it for a while.. but as the story goes on the drawing will improve.. a lot, together with the story.

Beck is great. I love it, this is the first manga of music which I like it.
