this series has a great blend of action, romance, and comedy. 1st couple arcs were kinda boring. But when the series goes into Zero's Arc, it's awesome. People should really pick up this series especially when u dropped it because it is a great series after a couple volumes.

i have just read the volume 16. what i can say about this is it is utterly great.
Yes, the 1st arc is relatively boring and monotonous(Really?), with similar ending each time--kurohime senses the love from Zero and turns back to her original power form.
But when the story reaches volume 5, the main story line comes out that make the story boom. i was moved when zero dies.
when i began to read the 1st art, i thought the story is just like most of the readers said---monotonous and without direction. After reading up to the volume 16, i changed my mind. The first arc is not just an introduction. In the 2th arc, kurohime loses almost all her memories about Zero which are things in Arc1. She needs to fight and minimizes the lost of the memories at the same time .In the 3 arc, kurohime even goes back to the past and finds out the truth of Zero. This arc will explain what happens in the first part of the 1st arc. Moreover, the characters in the 1st arc will appear again. (Arc one is not a rubbish!!)
All in all, this manga is one of my favorites and i enjoy reading every arc of it.

I gave a 10 to it ^^

but the story falls apart after the first main story arc has concluded. second and current arc is utterly confusing, even by fantasy shonen standards

So Kurohime goes to the past to save Zero cause she loves him.. That's cool and what not, but now she's hooked one Rei wtf? Unless Rei turns out to be Zero or someshit in the future it's gonna be like sibling rivalry over who can make Kurhime their lover.

I personally really like this manga, the story is very nice, the action is good as well, you continuously ask yourself questions about what will happen, what is the history between those guys, or why is he/she like that and so on, and at some times its really funny...my favorite chapter is 16...that part is kinda sad though, but it really touched me!
I sincerely recommend you read this manga!

If you are wondering whether to read this manga or not please give it a chance. The first few chapters are a joke and should be ignored (except for remembering the characters names). After the first few chapters happens the story changes dramatically. The plot becomes well developed. In the beginning there wasn't much but soon it becomes a pretty good story with good characters. The art becomes great in later chapters. After it becomes a great manga.

yes as everyone has said its boring in the beginning then around chapter 12 it booms!

Before i read this i was pretty turned off by the genre "ecchi", but i decided to read it anyway. It WAS GOOD. At first the story was pretty basic and funny. Kurohime was not the best character but it was funny to know what she is thinking.

Im not gonna lie, the art was NOT so good at first, but by chapter 20 and up the art GETS way better. (Zero gets hotter when something happens).

The story has gotten deep and thrilling. Totally worth to read. =]

The best description to give to this is: it gets better, both the art and story.

Early on it gives off a vibe similar to a mindless, directionless mix of gag comedy and action, which would be enough for several people to drop this series after reading about 3-7 chapters, which is excusable since at this point, one may conclude that the succeeding chapters won't get any better (read:SUCK AS HELL).

But dang, everything in this thing gets better (except the gag comedy, which thankfully becomes nearly nonexistent) to the point where it redefines itself as an almost completely different manga. Its theme gets a lot darker, and the characters gain significant depth.

Believe me when I say it was rewarding to sit through the early chapters of Kurohime just to arrive at the better parts. I remember DL'ing the first 2 volumes of this piece nearly two years ago, dropped it since I thought of it as boring, and then had a nasty brick shitting when I picked it up again just recently.

Nothing special

The idea is nothing new (and it doesn't get anything new in the process either), and the way how it is presented also doesn't save it. When reading it's pretty easy to guess what's going to happen next, it's so easy that sometimes you could even get a feeling you have already read it before. It has tons of cliches just name it, they have it - childhood hero, lovers death, unfulfilled love, somebodies death sudden gaining of power and then kicking the shit out of everyone. Even if we close the eyes for the cliches, the cliches are awfully repetitive, like every chapter has them ALL.
For good things.... well they have good looking girls, no srly the only good things, and the best at that. They are very well drawn and are also in practically every chapter. Although the guys are mostly pretty bad looking, so it kinda makes you wonder what kind of world is it were all the girls are beauties and the guys are... well not so pretty.
What could have saved the manga were characters or at least their development. Unfortunately no hope for that one either. If a character does develop then he does it in enormous speed, so fast that you are not even presented the reasons why would he do that.
Spoiler (highlight to view)
For example the guy who was loved by death angels kills all her friends and nearly kills her as well, so she chooses the most logical action and takes revenge.... on th main heroin WHAT THE HELL?
Of course I know there are people who show their love by beating up their love of life. Russians have a special saying for that "If he beats her, then he loves her", but for gods sake he actually killed her and in no chapter she actually gives some time to think about it, if what he did was OK.
Oh, yeah if it wasn't understandable from before the scenario is overdraged.

i got interested in this manga for awhile,i really like the 1st arc,
i like the main hero, forgot his name.

but then, when the story advance to the 2nd arc i get dissapointed, because the only reason i read this manga is because the main hero is cool/good man,and then comes the 2-rate hero that lookalike a samurai,i dont like that character, really...

after seeing more chapter i really drop this manga, but if the main heroine adventure with the Really CooL Hero with his Lightning Shoot with 4 guns again, then i will surely read this manga again....
