His Sayonara Zetsubou-Sensei (9/10) is one of the best japanese comedies of any medium and while he is a bit hit and miss (at least none of them are trash) i still consider him one of the most intelligent current mangaka.
This 6 volume tale is still as crazy as ever as it involves time manipulation but more of a conventional romantic comedy when compared to his other stuff. The lack of underlying darkness is noticeable and the art is as stylish as ever. The one notable difference here is that he is allowed to draw nudity again which works pretty well so i won´t complain. This isn´t his next BIG work but he proves that ecchi (it´s more of a commentary on the genre norm then anything) can be funny and that the king of trolls won´t sell out anytime soon as this is as counter culture as ever. Other quirky romantic comedy with a bit of sex appeal are Dr. Slump, Jigokuren and La La La.
