Hi guys sorry to bother ya

but i was wondering if you can add a blacklist option....
the option will refer to group, author, or manga

This might come in handy for people who dont like to see series, groups etc pop up in their search or release pages....

also if this is implemented can u also make a way for it to exist in the My List area

so that in coming time if one might want to do take off the black list or check which genres the blacklist consists most of ..... one can.....and stuff like tht.....

just an idea...... for me personally it might come in handy quite a bit...... since even though i have filtered my release pg I still see stuff i dont want to pop up repeatedly..........since they dont have their own separate category or are just something i dont like

Anyway sorry for bothering you
And Thank you for your time

So basically the release filter but it also recognizes groups and authors. Sounds interesting enough, but can't you just ignore them?

the only application of this is if you only want to be notified of releases of a series you are reading when done by a specific group, but i don't quite see why you cant just ignore them.

yeah i agree with uberzombie. What is the point of a blacklist option when it is just as easy to scroll down past it? I think adding one would be much more trouble than it is worth!

eyes I'd be ecstatic if I never had to see another search result (or release) for anything by Shinjo Mayu whenever I searched for a new series to check out. (I really dislike her work...)

Also, to expand on your idea, mystichead, it might be useful to have a sort of personal default for when searching by genre. While not unbearable (obviously), it does get mildly annoying to have to check off the same genres to exclude every time I search.

So, to summarize, yes, a sort of all-encompassing "blacklist" option would be nice.

I like the idea.

I haven't really browsed through the genre sections in a while, but when I did, I'd always sort it by descending rating. In general there are series I just think look like crap, that I don't want to read. But I always end up clicking on the title over and over again because I don't remember the name.

It'd be nice if there was a way you could mark a series so that you know 'I don't want to read this' that way you wouldn't end up clicking on it again, and rereading the same summary, over and over. Just to realize 'oh yeah, there was a reason I haven't read this yet.'

I guess if you really wanted you could just mark the series as reading or complete, but this probably would get annoying for people who actually keep up with their lists, and wouldn't really work for blacklisting an author.

I agree... but i think the latest feature, which is the edit list, can handle this filter/blacklist so i think, there should be an option in the edit list to uploading/change icon in your custom list so that we would know what are the series in the said custom list are...

Well
There were a couple of reasons why I made this suggestion.....

1: Since it is now clear that no more genres are going to be added...and there is some content and subject i wish to avoid since it pisses me off.......which appear on mangas....even after filtration.... I thought this might be a good way to avoid it. one prime example: sibling romance

2. I am, and many other ppl like me are following atleast 200 ongoing series....too many names to remember.... and the stuff u dont like keeps popping up in releases..or when u want to find new manga in the search

3. Also there r many mangas that just cant be categorized...and also make me dislike them......so this will come in handy

4. A number of the members here also have authors whose works we literally HATE......blacklisting them will help

5. I know the new edit list is powerful but it currently doesnt hold the ability to include authors and groups, and the ability to keep the stuff outta the release and search pages

I guess a way to work at it maybe giving more abilities to edit list area.......& maybe create the blacklist over there setting it up like the reading list and wish list......rather than make another section for it

If there's and option like filtering groups and authors, then there should be a way to highlight those.

I think there's been a highlighting suggestion already, but I don't remember the details much.

I like this idea! Especially since it would clean up my release page (without blacking out a certain genre).

I agree, I think this would be a great idea. Especially for those who are often very busy, but want to check out all the releases for new interesting series. Particularly without going through the series they know they dislike but can't remember the names thus wasting time going through them. Also, I think this would be useful for those dislike certain series, but unfortunately are listed under their favourite genres, and as a result wasting room on their Releases page.

Before adding a blacklist, I would prefer seeing the long wished favorite lists for authors and groups.

Personally I wouldn't use a blacklist but I also see no harm in it, so why not. Just I like to keep my options open and through this I often encountered works of authors or groups that I previously had a negative opinion on. I also see it as tiresome to frequently remove things from my view. That's a work for life.

On the other hand, I really would love to track my beloved mangaka and groups with similar taste to mine better. Positive selection appear to me as more effective in the long run compared to throwing everything else onto a huge hate-list. So rather than a censoring list, I would like to have an option to monitor my actual favorites for more.

Again, I don't say no to a blacklist just seeing how busy the staff here is it would be nice to focus on the favorite mangaka and groups lists first.

-_-

just use the unfinished list for the things you consider crap and tada is done...

you would need to ignore any releases with a blue dot, and thats it
