Yes, I do. I think one of the reasons is the animation. So many animes are pumped out that over half of them are so poorly done (IMO). When an anime is recommended to me however, I'll still give it a try. Then I could end up watching it all. Noein, Earth Girl Arjuna, Mononoke, etc. were all ones that I enjoyed thoroughly.. I think it's just hard to sift through all the crud to find the good stuff.

Hmm, it used to be my addiction but it's virtually non-existent right now unless it's a movie.

1. I'd rather read manga (unless the anime is the only version available or if it's One Piece)
2. I'm too lazy/impatient to wait for the downloads
3. I'm more into dramas nowadays

Yes. I haven't really watched any anime this entire year unless it's a movie. Frankly, I'm just not motivated at all. But the main reason is I just don't have time for it anymore. I may re-watch my favorites but that's about it.

As for manga, I still kinda have time to read it but even then I'm not that motivated to read any of the volumes I bought that I haven't read yet. :/

I think the reason for my lack of motivation is because I've been getting back into video games, there's lots of awesome new American TV shows I'm watching, and I've been watching a lot of videos on youtube. :/ At this point, I don't think I'll go back into watching any new anime.

ever since i started reading manga i've watched less and less anime. the main two reasons are cause i enjoy manga more and my internet is super slow so i have to wait over and hour just to watch one episode(i really don't have the patience for that). and i haven't really heard of a good anime for awhile and i don't have the time really either. :/ once i get faster internet and i'm on break from school i'll hopefully get back into it again.

yes. I prefer reading manga than watching anime.
maybe because we only have limited anime.
Not all great manga/s had a chance to get an animation. too sad.

Wow i thought i was alone in thinking that the quality of animes decressed over the past few years. Or that it was just my imagination. I stopped watching anime for like 2 years now only startet last season with "n.6" and "steins;gate". In the upcomming season i didnt see anything that would intresst me mainly because i already know the storys of the stuff that comes out and would intresst me.

my biggest fear atm is that the series/movies in hollywood are changing for the worse too, then wont be able to enjoy anything(movielike) during the upcomming years. ;/

I am really hopeing for something inovative

I don't think anime today is worse than anime 10 years ago, it's just a bit different but with about the same level of crap.
The problem is that there's only a limited amount of anime, and for most the watch rate is higher than the produce rate of the studios (especially when limiting yourself the genres you like).
Having watched all the 'good ones', you're left with the bottom of the barrel.

Don't forget, nostalgia and mood/age also play a huge role. I've recently re-watched a few shows I just loved as a kid and for the life of me can't understand why.
That and I personally just grew tired of all the repetition, or maybe I just had a higher threshold for crap when I was younger.

About Hollywood, they're probably the biggest producer of crap on the planet and have been doing so proudly and successfully for the past ±30 years... Sometimes, rarely, producing a gem.
What's there to fear?
Where Hollywood fails, many others step in. Most of the truly good movies or series are produced elsewhere and/or independently... Seriously, you think too much of Hollywood.

I definitely watch a lot less anime now that I've started reading manga. I started watching anime on a regular basis about two years ago. Basically all my free time was spent watching anime episodes. I watched at least one episode a day, and could spend the entire day watching anime if I didn't have anything to do. Then, about a year ago I started reading manga. Since then, I read during my free time. I can spend the whole day reading, and have gone weeks without watching anime. I do like manga better than anime, but I think that's mainly because there's more variety in manga. But I haven't stopped watching anime completely. Even if I don't like the anime that's currently airing, since I haven't been watching anime that long I can always find a past anime that I'm interested in watching.

Sadly yes. Reading is quicker and I don't have the time needed to devote to anime. Yes, I could make the time, but I'd rather read instead.

Yeah, I watch less anime now. I'm always too tired to enjoy my hobbies these days, sadly. no

Yeah, and I think I'll likely quit watching new anime completely soon, unless its a new season of a series I've been collecting. Most newer series these days are getting boring....
Then I'll only ever rewatch old favourites or go and watch J-dramas.

I did the same thing with Bleach and other anime that are originally manga. But my friends and I have movie-marathons, so after those, there tends to be an anime or two I'll watch. For example Phi Brain: Kami no Puzzle is a new anime that I've taken a liking to.

I don't have as much time to watch anime now....

plus, I hate starting new series because I hate the whole wait-a-week-while-biting-my-nails for the new episode to come out.
I hate the one episode a week because a week later, not only does it feel like an eternity, I forget everything that happened.
I have to watch it all together.

AKA
the only time I actually watch anime is like during breaks......

Can't remember the last time I finished an anime. I think it's a combination of dwindling free-time and an overall decrease in the quality of anime. There's not much that can hold my attention through various week+ breaks until the next episode comes out.

However, Hunter x Hunter 2011 may do it. Of course, I was a huge fan of the original several years back... so maybe a part of it is the reminiscence factor.
