@akari_mizunashi, SPOIL ME PLEASE! With Oishii Kankei, who else does Momoe fall for? Is it that pale-haired chef who was her boss's professional rival and fellow student? 'Cause actually, I thought that...
Spoiler (highlight to view)
... she just had a one-night stand with him, not a proper relationship, even though she was sort of fond of him (just not romantically, or so it seemed to me). Then again, I've only browsed the raws without understanding a word of Japanese, so... Maybe it was more than a one-night stand? Spoil meeeee! :D

Heh, thanks for tolerating my weirdness.

Tonari no Kare is also about winning the heart of someone who's still in love with a deceased person... Must keep things on-topic in my own thread, lol!

EDIT: Whoops, I forgot to put the spoilery bit in spoiler-quotes before! Fixed.

*cough*
*would like to know too*
*would like it to be that pale-haired boss of hers*

--- ok on-topic.

I think there's something like that in Hoshi wa Utau?
Brand "Peace" Ah...now that I think of it...this doesn't really fit. lol More like she's with someone right now and then the guy who likes her tries to get her to be with him instead.

Koukou Debut - This may be a little stretch, but it may still be something you like. I can't give you the details because then it would be spoilers...seriously. -_- But I will say at least give it until about chapter 8, that is where a lot of what your looking for should start kicking in.

Immortal Rain - WARNING: Might be some Slight Spoilers Ahead:

Rain (the male protagonist), can't admit his feelings for the female protagonist because he's still in love and grieving the death of his childhood love. However, he's able to get over that resolve a couple of volumes into the series. It's not really a "winning against the one true love type of story" in the strictest sense, but it's definitely one of the initial barriers in their relationship. You might not like it if you have a problem with huge age differences. It's one of those fantasy stories where the hero is hundreds of years old while still retaining much of his youthful disposition (and looks of course). It doesn't bother me much because most female heroines in shoujos are drawn and written with the personalities of 14 year olds anyway XD They claim to be 15-18, but the oh-so-virtuous sensibilities of these heroines make me think 14 wink

Thank you everyone, esp. for Immortal Rain! I'd stopped reading it before it got to the good part (where he gets over his past love), because I hadn't had enough scanlations on-hand at the time. But I'll start it again!

Please recommend more from any genre (except ecchi!), I'd really appreciate it.

Oh yes, keep reading, I think it gets better depending on where you stopped smile Mangatraders should have all the current chapters if you're still looking. I might have more recommendations too, but it'll have to keep until tomorrow. We must be on different sides of the world or else you're a night owl like myself smile

Lol, just realized I never finished my recc XD (though I don't really remember the others I'd been thinking of back then)

Some more:
Senpai to Kanojo
Crazy Love Game -- possibly, it's been ages since I read it XD
Suki desu Suzuki-kun!! -- ... if the jerk-ish one manages to get the light-haired girl to like him (I'm sure he will eventually, though from looking at the latest Chinese raws, it's actually quite a ways off)
Sprout -- I think, but I found the characters too annoying to finish reading XD

Oh, and regarding Immortal Rain, it is definitely a manga that gets better as you go along! I'm pretty sure Mangafox is up to date on all the latest scanlations, and you should give Touhou Shinigami: Meteor Methuselah Gaiden a try as well, it has a particularly beautiful, heart-wrenching tale about Machika's "grandfather" Zol, the bounty hunter. In fact, in terms of character development and romance, I feel it's far superior to Immortal Rain, which has more action and plot. (Although it's not what you're looking for in this thread, it's still a great read XD)

Has Good Ending been mentioned yet? Dunno if it counts but his girl(s) has an ex boyfriend she still loves.

PansyWansyLady, you're a sweetie! (With a very hot icon starring my favorite hot guy. Lol.) I'm heading over the Mangatraders now. smile

Thanks also to Maxlurifax (it's on my list now!) and dark mage (I hadn't read Rebirth!).

@magical_poof, thanks again for all the recs! I actually haven't read anything except Sprout - this is in itself is amazing given how much manga I read (and this is why I keep resorting to recommendation threads out of desperation!). Thanks so much for the treasure trove. eyes

@weirdchick0917, please spoil me for Crazy For You! Actually, ANYONE willing to describe it in depth is also welcome to spoil it for me! I know of this manga and have read its summary, but the comments seem to offer different angles on what appears to be a complex situation (one commenter calls it a "crazy love pentagon"!). PLEASE spoil it for me and tell me the ENTIRE PLOT, as in, who falls for who and then who they fall for and who falls for them back and... you get the idea. I'm a sucker for certain permutations of this scenario, but not others, so I need to know what kind of story it is before I read it... Yeah, I know, demanding! biggrin

Of course, please use spoiler-quotes when spoiling. I love you guys. Keep recommending!
