Out of curiosity, how many have had your tastes change to the "harder" stuff? Or did you experience the reverse? (You used to like the really kinky "weird" stuff and now you like softcore.)

As for me, I think my tastes have remained relatively the same, just add a little more pickyness and variations on certain kinks that have accumulated. But I kinda like the harder stuff to begin with, so there's not much to escalate to anyways.

I just thought of this question, since I find myself liking the softer stuff lately.

I think I've been pretty consistent in my tastes over the years. Although my tastes are pretty varied so I'm happy with just about anything. I have noticed though I tend to prefer stuff with a deeper story and more romance nowadays and usually stay away from pure sex fests.

Yes, I prefer more hardcore sex than when I first started out.

For example I now prefer Murakami Maki's doujinshi's over her regular manga. My standards/tastes also changed(increased) with time. More than hardcore, I like detailed sex, since it's more stimulating. For example, while Minami Haruka's works are pretty and one could say that it's hardcore, it's not that detailed.

I started reading smut then later moved on to hentai. But at first I didn't like hentai. A poor experience was when I tried Bondage Fairies. Line drawn there. Now I find that smut isn't hard enough for me.

I also think I developed some fetishes or maybe preferences along the way.

I use to like more sweeter I guess clean stuff, and over time I just wanted more, and more dirtier/kinkier things ... Hmmm makes me think of a drug addict ... starting off with weed, and needing more to get a high over time. (And by more I mean more extreme types of drugs)

You could say so. I couldn't stomach futa or NTR 6 years ago. Now I prefer it that way. Why would I want vanilla stuff when I can just read anything with romance to get the same result?

It's definitely evolved. Some of the things I used to find revolting and thought I'd never come close to have become sort of common for me these days. I often look back at my tastes in the past, and think "damn, this used to be hardcore for me" - not that I've lost interest in them though, the standards have just gotten higher since then.
Nevertheless, some things don't really change. My negative view on NTR, rape/mindbreak may have withered a bit, but I'd still take vanilla over them any day.

yep, nowadays it takes a lot to stimulate me. and i become very picky towards the art, back then anything will go, but now the more organic it look, the better.

I have escalated... like kitty1826x said, wanting more drugs for a better high. I was always open to trying things so it escalated quickly.
It also depends on what my mood is to determine how "hardcore" I want it. Sometimes smut is enough to tickle my fancy but sometimes I want the excitement of a kidnap/rape and nothing else will satisfy me. One day yaoi/yuri leaves a weird taste in my mouth and the next day straight-laced isn't good enough.

Pretty interesting topic here.

While my intake of "hardcore" material has reduced over the years, my desire for "deeper" material (plot-heavy NTR and the like) has continued to grow. Not sure whether that's a good thing or a bad thing lol.

As a side note, I'm a big fan of Maruta. His artwork is the best!
