Okay - So heres the deal.

This Saturday coming up, my mother has agreed to buy me some manga. For my birthday.

I read alot - and the current titles I have read are:

D.N.Angel
Monster
.HACK - LOT
Bleach
Claymore
Buso Renkin
Junk
DeathNote
Sundome

I personally REALLY enjoyed Death Note - And bought every book (apart from the first 3) as soon as they came out each date. I want something that will keep me interested right till the end. I don't want to end up reading till book 200. So I'd like something that gets summed up after like 12 books like Death Note. I've already watched Full Metal Alchemist - so dont really want to get the Manga. I want to think about the plot too, I dont want it effortlessly one joke after the other. I'd also like it to be aimed at a mature audience meaning Nudity/Violence/Gore are all allowed. (Loved Sundome).

Anyway - Hopefully one of you guys have the right titles for me. smile Thanks in advance.

You might like something like Basilisk

Whatever you decide on, check it out online before you buy it so it's not a waste of money. ^_^

I'd rethink Fullmetal Alchemist if I were you. After a certain point, the plot goes in a completely different direction than the anime.

It appears that you want completed titles available in English for purchase. GTO is the first thing that pops up in my mind. It's one of the best shounen titles but it fairly long at 25 volumes. Though I must also say that it is fairly hard to find. The same applies to Vagabond which Deva mentioned, which is an ongoing series btw. Deva also mentioned Gantz, but it isn't published in English yet (publisher is Dark Horse Comics).

I also recommend PlanetES and Rurouni Kenshin (you've read Buso Renkin, the mangaka's more current work).

Thank you so much guys.

I have been looking around and I reckon I can get Basilisk quite easily.

Parasyte and Ichi The Killer took my interest - But I dont think I can get a hold of them. Even Amazon doesnt have them. embarrassed (UK).

Thank you for taking the time to recommend the titles guys.

Then read them online. >smile They are 100% worth it.. Well, Parasyte is anyway. Ichi is only about 80% worth it.

I'm not surprised no place sells Ichi though. Tis' a bit violent, with all the torture and all.
