I always try to read a little bit before I decide to buy something. Because erm, yeah, in the past... I've passed up a lot of good series by judging the cover art first-- unfortunately no Luckily, I’ve always had good mind to go back and give things a shot.

I do but some of the things I decided not to check out because of their covers have become some of my favortie stores ex: Fruits Basket, MARS

Mmmm...I guess it depends. Like, if the cover of a manga had a guy screaming in pain on a bloody background, I'd skip it. Same goes for incredibly over-done covers, like the blindingly sparkly ones. cool

I flip through the ones in between, that I'm not sure about.

I feel bad saying it because I know I shouldn't, but I do it; All the time.

I'll look at the cover, then depending on that, i'll read the description or not. If the art isn't to my taste...well...I'm most likely not going to pick it up and read it ^^;

I want to stop but I can't *cries*

Most of the time :]
But then most of that "most of the time" arc, I judge the manga by its mangaka xD
However, in cases like when I'm avoiding horror, seinen, yaoi, yuri, H manga, etc. Judging the manga covers really come in handy biggrin

I do read the description though, I mean, it's like at the left of the cover LOL why not O.O

Yes I do. Because I have a strong dislike for certain drawing styles, e.g. Ranma 1/2. If the characters look like that on the cover, I won't go near the manga.

Yes. The cover is the first thing I see so the art has to at least be tolerable before I move on to checking out the description. This is especially true when looking at manga in the bookstore. I have started reading manga scanlations just from the cover picture alone in cases where there is no description available.

Sometimes. More of a yes.
If there is a pretty art cover, I will put it into my wish pile. smile

And yeah. If the art isn't so great, well, even if the storyline is awesome, it would still drop some points. I've encountered some mangas with decent art but awesome plot, those are the exceptions. Thus, the "sometimes" vote.

I don't hold the cover against it, meaning I'll never decide that i won't try the series if the cover isnt very good. I usually decide to read the series based upon the summary or even just the genre if I don't have anything else to read. I will, however, decide to read a series even if the summary isn't all that great, if the cover-art is impressive.

Long story short, I never allow the cover to prevent me from reading the series, but it does draw me in from time to time.

I only judge manga by its cover is the art looks terrible, or just isn't the style artwork I like, if I don't like looking at the cover work I highly doubt I'll like looking at the rest of the artwork. There are times when if the description sounds interesting I will read it regardless if it is drawn in the type of artwork I prefer.

yes sometimes I do judge manga by looking its cover. most of it i go to the description and the most important is the mangaka name. I wouldnt hesitate to buy the manga just by looking the mangaka's name written at the cover..

Yes, I do. I'm picky when it comes to the art style. Though I'd overlook it if the summary looks interesting...
