I know a boy who's read:
-Fruits basket
-Magic Knights Rayearth
-Nosatsu Junkie
-Penguin Revolution
And I'm pretty sure there's some others that he's read, too. 😐
well i ´m a guy and i have read plenty of shoujo titles, as well as josei.
Specially enjoyed Fruits baskets, Skip beat, Glass Mask, Mekakushi no kuni, Nodame Cantabile, Host club, Bara no tameni, Superior, etc.

A nice shoujo that should work for both a female and male audience is Mens' School by Izumy Kaneyoshi. The scans for the first two chapters are out ^_^.
Basically so far it shows the hijinks and embarassing situations that arise in a all-male school situated in a very isplated location, especially regarding girls (real ones, virtual ones, fantasized-about ones). It's light-hearted (so far) and a bit silly, but not as...stupid? ^^; as the official synopsis could make you think.
Motomi Kyousuke is DA (WO)MAN ;D

I recommend Nana, if you like an anime with a lot of emotions in it. The manga is very good as well, has everything from happiness to rock bottom despair.

I don't really read that much shoujo. The best is probably Mars, but that's more josei than shoujo.
I'm sorta a sucker for the "adult caring for child" scenario.... line Aishiteruze Baby and Usagi Drop... dunno why.
I don't mind the over-the-top types like Tokyo Crazy Paradise and Perfect Girl Evolution.
Titles like Natsume Yuujinchou, which don't really concentrate on much romance are pretty good as well.
I've also enjoyed some one-shots.
I don't mind Kare Kano, but I think stuff that "tries to be deep" like Fruits Basket is overrated.
I absolutely HATE the "one girl stuck between two guys" or "girl poses as guy in sports" or "girl falling for her rapist" type manga.... I also despise stuff to do with modeling or fashion, coz I see enough in real life (I'm a photographer).
Probably some other titles I forgot to include.

co-sign...... i swear i hate those too, and i sweaaaar i dont get why people love Fruits Basket so much, that main character alone was enough to scare me away......but on another note, i've never come across a "girl falling for her rapist" manga....talk about true love, lol
but also for a josei i'd say Do-Re-Mi-Fa-Sol-La-Si-Do, i cant see a guy having anything against this....as well as Nana

Banana Fish is shoujo manga that a guy can admit to like without blushing (even if it has homosexuality element), as Gackt already did. It's nothing like other shoujo manga, even the drawing is closer to Katsuhiro Otomo's.
