Er.. This is awkward, but ever since reading Onani Master Kurosawa, I've been curious to see other depictions of masturbation in mangas that are not hentai. Another one that I've recently found is Self, though it hasn't explicitly depicted the actual act of masturbation yet.

So yeah, I'd like some recommendations where masturbation is a regular occurrence, even an on-going theme in a manga. The criteria:

-- Masturbation is depicted, maybe even explored, quite regularly (at least more than twice).
-- Must NOT be a hentai.
-- Ecchi and smut are ok, as long as it doesn't cross the line to be hentai.
-- Any genre/demographics are accepted. Including yaoi and yuri.

Note: Adult and Mature genres do not necessarily mean hentai so I do expect the recommendations to have at least one or both of the terms.

Octave is a good yuri that has a little of it, mostly in the beginning.
Yume wo Miru Hima mo Nai is a pretty good and only mildly smutty yaoi that has quite a bit of it.

Watashi no megane-kun has it happen once. And damn it was interesting.
I don't even think it is considered smut. :/

Kodomo no Jikan has it too, in the last 5 or so chapters it was a point of interest.
I don't know how you feel about lolicon though.
You should give it a try eitherway, since past the loli's it really is a pretty good manga.

Yes, it is hard for me to look past the lolicon themes prevalent in KnJ, though I've heard many good things about the manga despite it being what it is. It just so happens that I read it at random intervals, so yeah i did catch the bit with the masturbation 🙂

In chapter one, Toshi's glasses wearing friend masturbates in class

In a later chapter, not sure which one, Toshi himself masturbates. He's been getting erections throughout the chapter, lol. Those were portrayed in bubbles as peeled corn.
