I like shoujo better. i find it easier for me to read about younger girls because i find that most josei are about college age women or older. I still read them, i just enjoy shoujo more.

Josei, because as it was specified in the genre page it was defined as to be more realistic. I especially like Yazawa Ai's works, like Nana although it's under the genre shoujo, it seems more mature...
I'm sort of tired and growing to dislike the typical shoujo characters, the ones that cry, and whine over anything. Although the art is cute and that, I don't really like really moe characters. Ex. Ikeyamada Go, all of her female characters are drawn so bishoujo, with big eyes and small faces and other then that they all practically got the same personality which I explained that I sort of detest above... sadly I've read two of her projects. TT__TT
Most shoujo is okay, I don't hate, hate, hate it, it's just those type of shoujos I don't like. >___< Why would I hate shoujo when I've read so much of it?

used to like shoujo better but the fact is at the moment I am much more into Josei. the main characters are ten times more realistic and just plain more likable. I like the fact that adult women in josei tend to overall be tougher in personality than shoujo characters. Even more annoying characters in josei can be more tolerable than the average shoujo character.
I used to not think that way, maybe I've read to much shoujo.

It really depends on the manga. I tend to keep an open mind. If it's romance I usually prefer josei since they are more mature, with more complex characters or more smutty (lol) but I've found a few realisitic and serious shojo romances too (I guess they are josei/shojo crossovers). As to other genres (fantasy/action/adventure/mystery, etc), I like shojo and josei equally as long as I like the story and the art. For example, I enjoy Natsume Yuujinchou, Trinity Blood, the Top Secret and Hyakki Yakoushou. But josei manga usually tend to be more serious or completely serious and have more stylish art like the series Onmyoji to the point of not being the majority of people's cup of tea.

Is there really that much of a difference?
Yeah, because Josei would be more on the realistic side (or as real as a manga/manhwa/manhua can get) while Shoujo is beyond the realm of reality. xD

hard to say, some of the josei mangas are so serious and witless that it makes cringe, while a lot of the shoujos are just unadulterated stupidity

If you say so. I still see it was manga for females.
If that's the case I guess I'll pick shoujo. I don't need to read about how life sucks in a manga. I have my own.

Josei is not all about how life sucks. I guess it depends on the specific title. Josei manga are also for different tastes. I don't want to read about unadulterated stupidity in most shojo. But I can still pick the a few titles that are of my taste.

I don't know, I like both of them though. I've read a lot more shoujo than josei, so it would be kinda biased. Some shoujo just gets really old sometimes and josei does have a little more variety. I don't know, both are good!!
