Picture doesn't leave nearly as much room for the imagination, so most of the time, I'd prefer words.

1000 words because it's easier for me than a picture.
I don't like writing so I'd rather draw a picture. I'd also rather see a picture than read a thousand words, it's just quicker and less boring.
