i like long series' but it has to be good story and be my fav. genres comedy/romance/action for me to read it...i dont like it if its jus long boring manga and usually i wouldnt even start readin if its dat. the only mangas i dropped readin is Ranma 1/2 cuz it was very repeatative and boring to me, Shamo cuz it was kinda disgusting, and Ichi the Killer fo the same reason. and I stopped reading Suzuka at least for now cuz i jus stopped, i will finish it tho, jus dont kno when lol...and Bleach jus recently got really boring so i read it rarely now.

Bleach would be that "rare" occasion for me. It started going down the drain for me post-SS arc. Dropped it like an old hat.



Hanazakari no Kimitachi e doesn't belong in the list imho. I really mean it when I say "nothing of real consequence occurs for over 19 of the 23 volumes. With Hanadan, Fruba, Mars, and even Tokyo, things do happen, whether it be events that lead to some sort of character development, enlightment, or thicker into the plot. I think Hanakimi was seriously lacking in this department. Felt like the mangaka was just stretching the story as far as she could, when the story could have benefited with being at perhaps a 10 volume or less length.

Yup, many times. You read it started off as a good manga, but it gets predictable and boring after about the next 100 chapters. It's like the artist doesn't care about the plot, they just wanna make money outta it without starting a new one. -.-'

Mmmmm....I don't start long series unless I feel they'll be interesting, and if I find I was mistaken I'll bail out. So, yeah, I've dropped series. Sheer length, though, isn't usually a real issue. And I second the remark on Inuyasha: we'd gotten that far and I wanted to see the *&%(&^ ending.

Although, some manga can really pull it off; say Berserk, 30+ volumes, but still great. =D

You ask if I drop things because I don't like the story?
Yes. But if the art is good, I sometimes put it on hold.
Just in case, I mean, who knows?

I don't drop things just because they're long though...

i don't drop that long series because i don't even start reading them.

I don't drop a series purely because of length. I drop it if the length is accompanied by a loss of quality, e.g. Bleach, Naruto, Berserk (yeah, I said it!). Even Hajime no Ippo is getting to the "hmmm" point.

Another thing on the length wavelength are monthly titles. I get tired of waiting for them to come out so I don't enjoy them as much any more. Even manga I used to really enjoy like FMA and Nana, once I caught up I started rapidly losing interest.

I've put Kaikan Phrase on hold because I just got so tired of the repetitiveness of its story. I've since seen that quite a few people are not enamored of the mangaka (particularly for this reason, among others), so I don't feel too bad about it. (As I said in my comment on that project's page, some day when I'm feeling masochistic, I'll go finish it.)

Other than that, I haven't started anything that I've really felt like dropping. Fruits Basket, being 23 volumes, was worth every volume. And though I'm not as sure about Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle (because 1/2 of it seems like it's an excuse for CLAMP to do cross-overs with characters), I'm not yet tired of it, even though it's already on 20 volumes released (though I dare say it needs to start winding down, and I'm not sure it is).

I almost can't bring myself to start super-long series because of how long it would take to catch up, the uncertainty of how long it will keep going, and whether or not it will continue to be as good as it starts. (Will it jump the shark before it's over?)

Sadly... yes... and sadly, it happens way too often. I dropped Bleach completely because the fights are being drawn out way longer than it needs to be. Dropped Air Gear because it takes forever for the story to even progress, and add on to that, the very slow releases. I was about to drop Hajime No Ippo but every time I tried... I always get drawn back to it. There's just something about it, that's so engrossing no matter how long it is.

Well, most of the time, I drop a series because I just don't have time. I'm in college and it requires lots of study time. >>; I wish I could watch every series, but time is mainly my problem.

Yes, tons of times Most of the time though I only drop the long series that are the same thing over and over again. Although I tend to not actually "drop" some of them...they just wither away on my reading list because I keep thinking I'm going to get back to reading them until a year later I don't even remember the series so I finally drop it lol.

It depends. I rarely drop a series more like I put it on hold until there's further plot development, if there's any plot at all which is what I'm doing with Bleach and Naruto. Though I have to say it'll be hard for me to read Naruto again since the last chapter I read was 300?

There are only a few exceptions of Manga I have dropped and right now I can only think of Hana Yori Dango (it was too long and there were repetitive chapters). The rest I can't really think of now which explains why I dropped them since the plot must have not been that interesting for me to forget so easily.

But even if I do drop a series now I think I'll go back to read it again. It's the same thing with movies and tv shows with me if I start watching them and they're crappy I'll finish it completely if not I'll somehow feel unsatisfied. I don't know it's a habit of mine to finish something I've started even if it takes months or worst years
