Blade of the Immortal. The mangaka should have kept refusing to turn it into an anime >_< I understand they have to do plot changes to make it fit within a certain episode count, but they oversexed it and changed the characterization of nearly everyone!

Amen.

Worst: Kurozuka to be added. The butchery of not that great of a story resulted in a whole number of technical mismatches and completely unremarkable ending. It looks like the best thing about the anime series is actually its artwork =/

Best: Ga Rei Zero: Takes a mediocre manga and makes it into a poignant character driven tragedy. Great job.

I'm not going to say these are thw worst, but...
Fullemtal Alchemist anime started out good but then went off on its own tangent and confused the poop out of me...
and Yu-Gi-Oh!....
it had 2 separate animes, the first didn't follow the manga barely at all, and the other only used Duel Monsters content (and modified everything else so it would be DM related...)

Even though the manga is way better almost all the time, I don't completely despise every type of anime fillers/alternate endings. I guess it just depends.

I really loved some of the fillers in Fullmetal alchemist like the episode with the blue roses or the phantom thief thing. But I really hated the way it ended. The last quarter or so seemed like a fan fiction.
I'm so happy we have Brotherhood. biggrin

And I liked the Kuroshitsuji anime. Sure, it's not near the same as the manga, but that's cool for me sometimes because I can get two very different experiences, even if I don't get to see some parts of the manga animated. Got to think on the bright side.

Then again- some adaptations are really bad, even for me. Negima comes to mind especially, but I agree with a lot of the things that have been said here.

Best: maybe the Dragonball Z, considered as one that has been for ages..., Doraemon - been starting to watch that since elementary, and my most favorite, Nodame Cantabile...

Worst: Mahou Sensei Negima... dang, don't even bother in finishing the whole first episode.... way too lame...

I agree with Reborn! having a pretty bad adaptation. It just felt so "children friendly" and awkward.

"Smoking Bomb" Gokudera, who in the manga lights his bombs with his cigarettes, doesn't even smoke in the anime. Otherwise I actually think it's a pretty good adaptation, stupid and silly at first like the manga, then really good after it takes off. The anime unfortunately deviates from the manga timeline and dips back into the lame chapters after it heats up, where the manga never looks back.

Shoujo Kakumei Utena - changed the story and made it much better!

The anime is so much more complex IMO, and my avatar character Nanami gets much more development, which I think is a good thing, though some might disagree.

My nomination for Worst is Wallflower. I liked the voice acting, but that was about it. The character designs were ugly -- too coarse. The Goth-Lolis, thankfully very minor characters in the manga, for some reason showed up in every episode of the anime.

Monochrome Factor (If you dare to watch it you will know why it is the worst.

So the manga doesn't have a creepy Michael Jackson look alike?

As for awesome, I'm gonna vote for some more CLAMP ones.
Kobato's anime is all clean and pretty
Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles's anime is far more coherent than the manga (and color makes the fight scenes far clearer)

Ouran High School Host Club
Absolutely brilliant! Though I wish they continue it until the recent manga arc....

Inuyasha
It has no ending, but the fight scenes are great, and the OSTs are suitable to the theme. The quality of the anime is consistent too.

Worst:
Chrno Crusade
I absolutely HATE the anime version. The first few episodes are good, but I dislike how they used a new take on some of the terms in the manga, rather than following the original version. They completely change the personaility of one of the main characters, and the ending doesn't leave the same tragic, yet bittersweet feeling like the manga. As a fan of the original manga, watching this anime leaves me feeling homicidal.

D.N.Angel
Where did the original complexity and mysteriousness of the manga go? The manga shows the complicated relationship between all the characters, even the side-characters. The anime, instead, chooses to focus on the love triangle (or square, if you will) between Daisuke, Riku, Risa and Dark, as well as the "grand" battle between Dark and Krad.

YES someone else who didn't like the chrno crusade anime. The ending seemed just plain inferior compared to the ending of the manga.
And they finished the inuyasha anime; I'm quite satisfied with it now
As for the worst I've seen, nurarihyon no mago had a bit of a disappointing anime. It just didn't retain a certian feeling that the manga had. And it messed around with the plot which just made it confusing.
