se7a you are underestimating Spain and I would hope that no manager at the world cup is in your mold or they would find themselves being played around by Spain. Underestimate them at your own peril. Tradition counts for NOTHING. The fact that they have never won it doesn't mean anything since this is here and now and you'd better believe that the spanish players themselves are dying to rectify that.
They are the best team ,they have strength in depth in every position and they are the team in form. What I fear is that they will try to play too much of their tippy tappy stuff without little end result but there are plenty of match winners in the team.
So make no mistake about it the team to beat is Spain.

No, it isn't. Tradition counts. Weak but traditional teams have proven in the past that they can do well in WC. Germany is the best example, not always having strong teams bu almost always going to the latter stages.
Spain is strong, no doubt about that, but like I said, their best place ever was a 4th place. They had amazing teams in the past too but they just could not do well (2002, 98 for example). And the team is just too offensive, the mid-fielders specially. Not even one that is truly defensive.
AND individual, talented players isnt what it counts. It's the team. Brazil in 2006 had what was probably THE favorite team to win a world cup in the recent decades. Individually, they were awesome, but as a team... sucked badly =(

Spain has arguably the best overall team CURRENTLY and Eurocup is a big deal, please don't forget that in most world cup finals there has been a european team and the last team that won fifa world cup was european...Italy.
(...)
Also you call Christano Ronaldo a faggot,,,,,um he was the world player of the year for 2008 scoring 42 goals in the toughest league ever..he has talent atleast give him credit for that.

In 2001, France won the Eurocup and were favorites for the WC, but couldn't even qualify for the 2nd round. That happened with many teams, like Holland in the 90s. I don't really remember a team winning Eurocup and after that, winning the WC.

Like someone said, Europe has way more teams in the WC than SA. South America has something like 30% of the teams. South America won half of the world cups; Europe the other half.
And most of the world cups finals were played by either Brazil or Germany, so thank the Germans.
- AND - if it wasn't for the first two WC that only 13 AMATEUR teams played in 34 and 38, Italy would only be 2 times world champions

And something that should be noted: All World Cups won by European teams have taken place in Europe. That is another fact and something that really matters.

CRonaldo has talent, but he is a faggot and he is playing for a mediocre Portugal, which won't probably go even past the Group Stages.

BUT it is football... Some weird shit happens. I hope that our 6th title comes this year, if it does not 2014 WC will be in here.

I'm surprised to see so much confidence in Brazil... On my end i am actually betting that Spain will get the title as they have unquestionably the best team overall as someone said.

And, against what you said se7a, if having the best team isn't a big factor (Spain case) then Portugal is one of the main contenders as their team is weak overall... (irony).

I think Argentina will win this time around
seriously Higuaín alone is gold worth and then add Messi[who sadly needs more help to shine ... but still]

but
northkorea and Uruguay will go alot further than most ppl think im sure

NK can be one of the top 3

Actually at 2006 Ronaldo's form was in decline and so was his physical fitness. Don't forget that Rivaldo was gone as well and he was a key player in winning 2002. Also they got beaten by france thanks to talents of Zidane and Henry...they are both talented individuals and were at their best. The mold of the team is important but there must be players in that team that can create moments of magic, you just have to look at Brazil's history to prove that...one player proves all of that...Pele. Germany had beckenbauer for them. Argentina had maradona for them. Ahaha England had the referee for them in 1966.Also Brazil's midfield also used to be quite offensive until just recently and they have won 6 world cups with that kind of strategy so why can't spain if that is their natural play. Please let me remind you that when Brazil went against their natural style of play they lost horribly at the world cup.

Nah, it's important, but not vital. Brazilian 94 squad would actually be mediocre if not for Romário. And why the surprise in my confidence? We did win everything in the last 3 years. Spain did not. And we are Brazil, right? If I was German, I'd be confident too, maybe a little less lol. Tradition reeeeaaalllyyyyyy counts in football. But I'm not saying we will certainly win it. I just think that we have more chances than others do.

Yes, Ronaldo was in decline in 2006, but there were others in that team like Adriano that were among the best in the world and didn't do anything. Rivaldo was important, but there were new players like Kaka and Julio Cesar that had the same amount of quality as the ones in 2002. Or even more.
France was strong, but Brazil played poorly against everyone. Don't know how we got to the semis.

Spain is kind of similar to the 1982 Brazilian squad - of course that you can't even compare cause the 82 Brazilian team is considered to be the best ever, maybe with only the 1970 team being better (btw if you have not seen them playing, search youtube. Specially for the top ten goals. It's just too awesome). Lots of really great players, extremely offensive midfield and NOT even one truly defensive midfielder.
After 82, Brazil changed and was way less aggressive. Oh and we weren't really offensive or defensive back in 94. Many of our goals came from fast counter-attacks - AND Romário, but we still won it, right?

first: I agree with se7a, tradition is important to some extent, but the European Cup is a big deal. . . if you look at the usual World Cup championship contenders only Brazil and Argentina are missing in the Euro Cup, so "most" of the bigger football countries are in the Euro Cup, besides, last world cup the Finals and the match for third place was all European.

Now for Spain, I don't think anyone is doubting the quality of their squad. . . however, one of the most important players in the Euro Cup 2008 was Marco Senna, and I'm wondering who's gonna fill up that space, Xabi Alonso feels more like a box-to-box player than a pure defensive midfielder but who knows. . . apart from him I wouldn't trust the rest to fill that role even if Busquets is a brilliant player. So the question is whether Spain manages to find balace on their midfield I'd say. Otherwise teams like Germany with their physique and Italy with their tactical prowess would win, seriously maybe even England could beat them if they don't manage to balance their midfield laugh sorry to all Englishmen

It'll be nice if other team besides Brazil, Italy, Germany, Argentina, Uruguay, France and England to become world champion.

I felt that was a fair result. They both had good opportunities. South Africa could have easily won it in the 90th minute though. That was so unlucky.

That first goal was amazing. What a smash!

Lets see what France Vs Uruguay bring.

Agree, SA could've won.
;[
They had two chances where they could've really scored after that first goal.
But oh well. (:

Perez is going to kill Mexico dead

SA didnt play that great, it was just Mexico was playing horribly no so SA look awesome out there. The goal SA made, anyone could of made. I'm surprised they didnt make more since SA had tons of opportunities where Mexico's goalie was being retarded.

Point is Mexico's selection could be so much better if Mexico wasnt so corrupt. Mexico needs to start sending skilled players not players that have connections with the coaches/owners/government

All I want is for America to beat England. I don't have personal hate against England's team, but there are some friends of mine who are English and for the last few weeks have been heckling America's team and I need them to shut the hell up. laugh

But if America actually went and won the World Cup...

Now that would be a troll moment for the ages!

Spoiler (highlight to view)
Too bad it more than likely won't happen...
