I'm not sure, but I think where you stopped was before the flashbacks (around volume 3 or 4), where the majority of the good stuff in Berserk takes place. If I'm wrong, just ignore this post.

Highschool of the Dead --> If you don't mind the ecchi-ness. @_@
Homunculus
Houkage Hokenshitsu (After School Nightmare) --> This might interest you~
Island --> Pan is the sickest mofo there is. xD
Judas
Le Portrait de Petit Cossette --> Some mystery~
Oni Gokko --> Not as violent as others since this is a Shounen, but still pretty good.
Umineko no Naku Koro ni --> Another mystery manga~
Yami e Hakobu Elevator --> A one-shot.
You should really continue Berserk. It's a great manga.
