A very humorous thread indeed. This Tazmo issue has been around since the Bleach and Naruto series. If he's making money off others work, I think he's pretty smart. I mean who wants to work. In my honest opinion, please correct me if I'm wrong, we scanlators are doing what we like like to do and thats scanlating. There are people who have the time to scour the internet to find and search for their wants and there are those who do not have the time. For example games, WoW is so popular that there are private servers, but look at the amount of people playing online. This may not be a very good example but I find it quite relevant. Calling in authorities will worsen the situation. And we might be at the losing end eventually. Fighting over something which we got no control over doesn't really make sense either. If people want to pay, they will pay. Groups can complain 'donate' to them instead, but isn't that the same? I remember when I asked for donations, people donated, but that felt like im working for money. I got shame Tazmo doesnt. End of story. Just because we think we're righteous it doesn't give us the right to condemn people who WANT to pay for services, they can't be bothered. As long as they are there we can't really stop Tazmo.

What I do have a problem with is, say, Tazmo taking chapters from my or any other scanlation groups' pages and servers, modifying them, and then putting them up on his server at a cost to the public, and also making it look as if, lo, the great Tazmo has provided chapters. =.=

Wow half the population of Singapore lol... Hmm... you feel cheated that he's making money out of you or you're feeling under appreciated, as in not receiving praise for your work? Wanted to clarify that point, cuz that seems to be quite popular.

If I were giving free eggs so much that you can buy a car obviously I am well off, and I do not lose anything by doing so. Whereas if you really need to buy a car with the money you gained from cheating people obviously you're pathetic. No offence directed at you, as I said earlier, I got shame, you don't. If people somehow recognised my efforts my gains will be much more than if they found out about your misdeeds. As I said its all down to morality of the issue. Directors spend millions of dollars investing in a quality movie like transformers only to find that a bootleg is out even before the official release. Microsoft releases Windows, but how many of us actually run a legal version. Oh hell, how many of us even donated to Bram Cohen for BT, the absolute father of P2P boom in my opinion. I don't mean to be rude, but there is really no point in bashing Tazmo, if there is no real benefit except to lose time and be angry over something. Seriously if one has time to get all worked over an issue surely you can channel the time to provide to the community? Say for example join a group to edit/translate and from there make your point. Leechers don't do jack and incite people over nothing. Of course vinceasuma, I do not know how you contribute to the community, I am just speaking my mind. You might have heard of lurk, which was started by my very good friend,Vic, and I can honestly tell you. Even if there is no lurk, people will still find ways to leech. It's just if they want to look for it. And before #lurk there was mangarchive, now known as syndicate, the last time i checked anyways. My point, this thread's discussion of trying to educate people who got no time to be educated is getting no where. Leave things be and in due course you will find that sleazmo will soon die out. You can only reinvent the wheel that many times. narutofan/bleachexile/bleachportal blah blah blah... Just bring it. I will continue to scanlate as long as I feel like it. Because I WANT to do it for free. I ENJOY doing it. I FEEL ENCOURAGED if people praise my work. I FEEL MOTIVATED if people even its just only 10 or whole group of 100 who read my work for free or otherwise.

i don't support paying narutofan for obvious reasons but correct me if i'm wrong. calling viz or "reporting" will most likely only have negative effects on the manga/anime community.

that page with all the info says it all. if narutofan isn't here it will not effect the community at all since it doesn't contribute in any way. BUTTTT getting a third party to come in and find faults can be harmful. what is to stop them from attacking scanlator sites and fansub sites after this?

i think going outside of the actual online community that we have trying to resolve this would be a pretty stupid call.

also wouldn't it be best for scanlators and fansub groups to come together and do this themselves?


Narutofan has a lot of popular crap posted on it for download correct? there are ways to screw over that guy with just normal releases. for example someone on here mentioned that he took out the page that bashed him. couldn't scanlators for just a few weeks put stuff about not supporting narutofan in the actual pages. like between frames- since that is deletable how about fansubs?
fansubs: every group could add frames to the beginning or middle etc and put in their two cents. i mean that would be much simpler. if every naruto episode said don't support narutofan for ripping you off etc im sure people would get the picture.

the reason i say this is because if the community actually came together and did something like this. then that site would most likely...

NOT host files because of the irremovable flames incorporated into fansubs and scanlations.

when people realize that the site isn't being updated they will then raise some questions.the only people that won't are the people that are paying because they were to stupid to ask where the site getting all these files in the first place. i mean really. those people are quite obviously claiming ignorance and don't care about doing their own footwork.

OH, i would like to point out. fansub goups DO say that it is a free fansub in their release.....that shows how dumb the people are in the first place.


when it comes to third parties and anime/manga online there is an invisible line between help and harm.

tazmo can easily edit out the things he dont want. Which he has been doing. Unless u find a good way to not make em uneditable.
