There was this manga I had read a really long time ago and I can't remember anything about it other then the hard to translate concept of En. I think it was from Buddhism. Not even sure if that's the right name for it. Anyways I'll explain it.
This concept is that En is this energy people have with each other in different amounts. People who meet often are said to have lots of En while people who rarely meet have little En. There are times when things lead up to En and you have a fate encounter or you lose En with people over a time. If you have no En with someone who two will never meet no matter how hard you try, like you walk into the front of a store while they walk out the back and your paths never cross.
Sorry if this is not very descriptive but this concept has stuck in my head for years and I really want to know where it came from.

I know that I read about this within the past few months, but I can't remember which manga it was... I think maybe Papillon - Hana to Chou, but that could be wrong. If no one else knows for sure, you could look at my Complete list and see if anything there rings any bells.
Edit: Like the poster below, I probably saw it in Kimi wa Pet too, so ignore the above.

There's a bit exactly like this in Kimi wa Petto, aka Tramps Like Us.
Iirc:
I have the series right here so I'll have a flip through and try to find the chapter in question, so you can look it up and check if it's the same manga you were thinking of.
Edit: It's volume 10, Chapter 57. Chapter name: "Some kind of en."

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
If I recall correctly, I think it was Emma who was talking about it (she was the western journalist and she was interested in Japanese culture so she was reading about it, and I think remarked how hard it was to translate into English). It was then used throughout the chapter as a sort of theme, highlighting the main character's relationship with Hasumi-senpai, a relationship where things never really seemed to work out properly. Because Emma and the break up with Hasumi was a later development in the manga, I think this chapter will be somewhere in the middle of the manga, slightly towards the end.
