I live in Asia (Japan) but am from Europe (the UK).

I was taught Europe, Asia, America (North and South), Africa, Australasia, and Antarctica were the continents in school. Though usually North and South America are separated in the news and other things. Conventionally a continent should be a large, continuous landmass, but then that leaves out the island countries, and Greenland is considered an island despite it being bigger than Australia (which is seen as a continent), so given that no one seems to be able to decide on an exact definition of exactly what constitutes as a continent, I guess the 7 continent teaching popular in most of the English-speaking world, as well as Western-Europe, China and India (so pretty much most of the educated population of the planet) is probably the best to go by. Still, I imagine this topic will always be somewhat controversial, like so many things.

Since some people got mad that everyone else weren't taught the same as them, here's some information about it:

I had myself never heard of "Eurasia" before.

Same here. roll eyes

Why can't people understand that people are taught different things... "The answer is definite."? Just, what the flying fuck. It's a poll... On a manga forum. No need to shove your (what you think is) "correct" knowledge on others.

actually there are 4 to 7 continents depending on how you look at it
if there are 4 it would be Afro-Eurasia,America,Australia and Antarctica
this would be using the definition that a continent is a large, continuous, discrete mass of land usually separated by water as Africa, Asia and Europe are separated and neither is north and south America
however the way i learned it was 7 continents which are each on continental plates
also Australia is sometimes called Australasia or Oceania to include the other islands near Australia

Eurasia is misleading to be put together. Europe has long been considered a western culture whereas Asia has always been known as an eastern culture. I don't understand why people would learn of the two to be together. If so, then would I be known as Eurasian American? That's strange. But I suppose if this is based off of continental plates, then I suppose you guys should also be arguing for Indo-Australia since it's one plate just like Eurasia is.
