Hmm.. yes, I've been mistaken for being boyfriend to my stepsister once in the mall. Nothing special about it though, I just told the clerk about the situation.

Sure, happened once. Hilarious.

A friend of the opposite gender was mistaken for my gay lover. Incidentally, my friend is gay.

*scratches head* I'm trying to make sense of that comment.

Does one of you look androgynous or of the opposite gender?

yeah, it always happens when I going out with my brother for shopping or watching a movie. he is 8 years older than me, so I think it is natural for people to mistake us for being couple.

I am terrible with personal boundaries but my friends all know this. I'm also a very sleepy person so after staying out for long periods of time with my friends, any available laps and shoulders are potential pillows for a quick nap. I'm also very excitable and I tend to greet people with hugs. This leads to some rather awkward situations.

I was at the mall with a group of friends and while they were in the music store, my friend and I waited on the bench. I was feeling drowsy and she was wearing a skirt made out of this silky fabric that was so soft, so I just flopped over and put my head in her lap ready to nod off and then her mother showed up. Out of fucking nowhere. That was fun to explain. She thought I was sexually harassing her daughter. Lady called my mother and my mother was so calm about it, explained to the her that I wasn't copping a feel, I was just perpetually sleepy.

That was the most awkward situation I've ever been in in regards to mistaken relationships. But it happens a lot. What can I say, I'm a huggy kind of person.

Both, actually. The androgynous one's my friend, though.

Yes. I leaned into my friend to tell her something and then heard a screech from another friend, who was saying "I have it! I have it recorded on camera! You two just kissed!" He tried to convince us for a rather long time that we kissed. While all we did was talk. Well, it was fun to mock him (friend who 'taped us') at first, but after a month or so of the same talk it was boring.
I have a habit of hitting on my friends (whether female or male), so I guess I've been in that situation quite a bit ;).

yeah....people would think that with me and my aunt

well me and my aunt are the same age...(long story)
and we are pretty close and we are practically like siblings...so people tend to think otherwise...which pisses me off

I'm pretty sure I have been mistaken with some of my guy friends more then once, but it's such a non-event i don't really remember the circumstances. However my sister read Ouran high school host club recently and surprisingly enough her favorite characters are the twins. So I have her hanging off me all the time when I'm home (from college--thank god we aren't actually twins). It's really hard to explain to our friend's parents.

My brother is the huggy affectionate type, and was once hugging me or something at a birthday dinner. So, the waitress commented on what a cute couple we were-she looked slightly sick when she found out her mistake. I think we've been taken for a couple a few other times, (we're twins but don't look alike, so we look like two teenagers of the opposite sex hanging around) but nothing sticks out.

A couple of years ago I had a friend who I'd hang out with at Penn Station before he had to go back to school (he'd just graduated from our high school.) All the bums were hitting us up for money, and one made a comment on us being a couple.

A lot of times people ask me if I'm gay for my friend because a lot of times he tries to make sexual advances on us as a joke. I rarely find it funny, though.

Three of my (guy) friends have taken that to an art form-they've got a long running joke of being in a soap opera worthy love triangle, including flirting, innuendo and outright propositions. It's very fun to watch.

Have I been mistaken for lovers with my friends? Yeah. So many times, it's not even funny.

Okay...it is funny. And I'm always paired with girls. For some reason I attract lesbian couple rumors. LoL. In high school even my own classmates thought my best friend was my girlfriend. No, scrap that... every girl I was close to was my girlfriend of the moment. Well...that's their story anyway. Even when I was in college, rumors like that still kept on hounding me... Good thing it never fazed my friends. I salute them. XD They'd usually say "bahh...we've been friends for so long, I'm already as used to it as much as you are." Hahaha.
