I've only ever read like 2....so can't make an informed decision.

I don't hate it but I prefer not to read it, especially the romance genre
I used to be a shoujo reader but everything got insanely boring and I got sick of the romance cliches etc. so I switched to shounen-josei-seinen-etc
If I read shoujo manga then it's almost always non-romance shoujo manga now (like FLAT, natsume yuujinchou) I only read romance genre shoujo manga if the plot is REALLY good.

i hate shoujos. The girls are sooo whiney and their like 'iwantaboyfriendiwantaboyfriend' i mean seriously, stop whining and be competent. Seriously, they're like crying and screaming I LOVE YOU to a guy they like. The guy doesnt like them theeeennnn the girl kisses the dude. I THINK if you're gonna make a shoujo make the girl NOT annoying at least? (i like yaoi better :b) (if u like yaoi choose the manga artist minami haruka, she is the BEST)

I like shoujo, it just depends on the mangaka and the story.. because a lot of shoujo is very cliche and ditzy, but there are some shoujo that i'd say is really good. It's like shounen. I dislike shounen, but theres only a few shounen titles that I would read.
In general, each genre I'd say has its pros and cons, so there'd be various titles that I would either hate/dislike/never read.
Yes, I agree that "hate" is a strong word.
If you are really getting tired of shoujo everyday, then I suggest that you stay away form the mainstream shoujo where the girls are always ditsy stupid and dumb, and go find one that is... well different which is rare, but I'm sure theres some good ones. either that, the just stray away from shoujo altogether

It really depends on the story ... I like shounen as a genre more than shoujo, but I think I like more individual shoujo series than I do shounen series.
There's a lot of generic shoujo that bores me, but honestly the only time I get mad at shoujo is when an abusive relationship is portrayed as romantic ... fortunately it's pretty easy to tell just from the first few chapters if it's going to be like that, so I usually just stop reading.

Of course I don't hate shoujo oO I'm not that much of a shoujo fan, but there are some series I really love^^ Sometimes it can be really cute^^
Some shoujo really get on my nerves though... Even though, that's no reason to hate them in general, because there are some good ones^^

I don't read Shoujo because, most of them are really cheesy, or the girl is just REALLY stupid -cough cough- Sunadokei, but there are some good ones too. I think Josei is better

I don't hate it.
In fact, I read a lot of it.
98% of what I read is shoujo, but I am very picky. I'm usually not satisfied with what I read.
There are as too many bad shoujos that give off bad impressions... you really have to search for the special ones.
I believe that it's worth it in the end. (:

I read mostly shoujo. It's light, leans on the pretty & poetic side. It depends on the story though. I hate shoujo cliches (the princess carry is the worst for me ) but there are obviously shoujos that don't use them as often and that tell a stronger story, which is where my tastes go. I like shounen, seinen, shoujo-ai, and yaoi- just as long as it can tell a story.
Of coz i dont hate shoujo. I try to pick the best shoujo and read them all. Actually shoujo is better than shounen in my point of view bcoz its more related to our real life.

lol, hating shoujo flat out for having cliche romances is like hating shounen for having cliche shounen characters....(ie. childhood friend, school president, disciplinary committee member, dense main guy, etc etc...)
OT: No, i do not hate shoujo. In fact I am one of the many guys who like shoujo. (I am also an avid shounen+seinen+mature manga reader)

I do like shoujo manga. What i hate are the whiney crybaby main leads WHO NEED A MAN TO SAVE THEM!!! cant they figure it out themselves? i love independent strong female leads. and the cliches oh god the cliches! they need new scenarios. something less cliche. sometimes it works though. not often but you get the rare manga. i like shounen better though. more of the creative battle mangas.

No, I don't hate shoujo. But you can't make a generalisation that all shoujos involve whiny, crybaby, unpopular, klutzy etc. heroines who always snags the hottest guy in the school, workplace etc. There's always some shoujo gems out there. You just need to find them out amongst the piles of pebbles. And not every shoujo involved romance as a genre.
But I understand the usual frustration of these silly romance cliches of those weak heroines and perfect guys (I mean, who doesn't like perfect guys, but it's just a whimsical wish of any girl) and the constant mind frame of "the hottest guy will fall for me eventually" or "I need a boyfriend, desperately, or else I'll die" etc etc. There is an exception though: if the cliches are done well, then I'll read it.

Definitely. But only because they have stereotypical storylines and chibi girls.
That said, I totally understand if others like shoujo- I would have liked them too,
if I was in primary school or early high school. I prefer josei and BL now.
