It's quite clear we are affected by some sort of Genjutsu. It makes even the most loyal fans continue to buy into the series even when they talk negatively about it. How can a ninja extra who passively reads this move on when you (the main character) insist on continuing to read it no matter how bad it is.

You are Naruto. You continue to chase Sasuke in hopes that he will understand your feelings towards him. Yet you feel scorned because he was the one that got away. The one that you could not befriend. You want to believe that true friendship can exist in the manga world and that the manga will change for the better to get back to the days of Volume 1-16 so you continue to read and read in hopes of it.

When Naruto and Sasuke shared a truly delightful moment together in the classroom it was bliss but the past is the past and they only had so long to experiment. All we can hope for now is a strong embrace or fist bump explosion between them. Maybe you should move on to Comic books.

If you're this critical of Naruto then you haven't read Air Gear.

So true. I thought AG was a great manga at the start, but now I find it and Naruto pretty damn bad. Sure, there's a good chapter here and there, but for the most part, they're terrible.

The only reason I still read Naruto is because I want to see the ending. Might as well soldier through the rest of the chapters it has in it's dying days instead of just quitting it completely.

lol... maybe uall just have nothing better to do with your life

i'm sure you'll look back in life and appreciate the time well spent reading and watching things you hated laugh

can't say everything in the story is AMAZING AWESOME FULFILLS ALL MY HOPES DREAMS DESIRES AND EXPECTATIONS, but overall Naruto has been a pretty enjoyable comic - i think it's worth passing on to my kids one day, many potentially valuable life lessons to be taken and imagination to be inspired smile

lulz man you serious? i agree with tc, this manga is just a pile of recycled plot tropes. the author is just dragging this crap so he can squeeze some cash. the good mangas are the profound and enlightening ones that trade popularity and profit for artistic merit.

Everyone has their own opinion. For me, the manga is a million times better than the anime and although it is stretched far, it's more bearable than the anime. As for your opinion on what a good manga is, a good manga doesn't necessarily have to be profound, or enlightening. It can be an absolute popularity vote manga with no artistic merit whatsoever and be all about profits, and it can still be good.

Ultimately, it if the manga fits the genre and is very popular, than it is a good manga. It may not be the best, but a majority ruling votes it as good (despite what your opinion may be). Besides, there are good artistic mangas, their are good gag mangas, and their are good hardcore porn mangas. If it does well in its genre, it is generally thought of as good.

A manga doesn't have to be artistic to be good, it simply needs to feed the mood of the people via the genre. Don't go looking for sappy romantic artistic enlightening crap in a comedy action shounen. It's common sense guy, don't start mashing genres and irrelevant values together.

QFT. I have 39 Volumes, so it's kinda too late to stop now.

Do anybody here ever feel that Naruto would actually be a decent read without Sasuke? I have no problem at all with mindless brawl, like One Piece or Yu Yu Hakusho. It's light and easy to read. In fact, some fight on Naruto are a bit deeper than "ego boxing". Mostly are Shikamaru's fights though.

I think without Sasuke, this manga would be better, or at least less stupid.

Yes. Popular = is good.
Brilliant logic. Your point taken.
Now go back watching Miley Cyrus.

You can't put Miley Cyrus and Naruto in the same category like that. He's got a point. It must have done something right to be as popular as it is now. Although it has lost the flare it had when it first started, it's been going on for years so you can't expect it to be amazing throughout the whole freaking thing.
Miley Cyrus has a fan base consisting of mainly pre teen kids that always go overboard and don't really know what they're doing. This make her seem "popular". Naruto, although it's aimed at younger kids, we all know that a wide age range of people read it. (Yes, I know some people go overboard with Naruto as well. You always have the fanatics laugh )

Maybe compare it to McDonald's then?
It's the most popular restaurant chain in the world.
But if you try to claim the food is good, there is obviously something wrong with your head. (or tastebuds)

Back on topic.
Naruto may be one of the most over appreciated manga ever, but that's with most anything that is considered popular.
Still, it is a reasonably entertaining read. It would be better if it didn't drag on an on like it does.
Air Gear for example is much worse. That thing has been one big WTF! moment since chapter 30 or so.

The reason I'm still reading it. Partly because every now and then it really is kind of fun for a moment. But mostly because I started reading it years ago, so I might as well stick it out till the end.

I don't know. The recent Naruto chapters were quite good, no?

I don't remember anyone complaining. I guess it's because Sasuke isn't in the picture.

i think the reason i stuck with it was because i put up with 250+ English dubbed episodes of BELIEVE IT dead .....oh god i wasted to much of my life on Naruto
(well i guess its not the worst thing that it happened because that's what got me into anime and that got me into one piece (hallelujah) and that got me into manga (once again hallelujah) biggrin

This.

I guess mostly because I wanna see it to the end...no matter how bad it may get. We've passed over 500 chapters, why give up now?

It's because good manga ends eventually, so in order to fill the gaps of team between new good manga, or releases of good manga, they must read mindless blither blather (probably in hopes of progress actually happening, or you know, watch the author drag the dead horse through the mud.)
