Yep.
Pretty straightforward. But basically, when a series gets licensed the name might change. It's only right for the main name [MAIN name, NOT associated name]. An associated name would better refer to like... food. >_>;
...well, but srsly, associated names seems to fit something that isn't official. -w-; Like PGE. Go by the official name. Leechers? No. No one cares about them and their scanlation names. :3 Official names kthx
One of the many examples I can think of: Perfect Girl Evolution to Del Rey's official title: The Wallflower.
I also noticed Special A got changed too. ^_^
Yep.

What's being a leecher has to do with mangas' names? I usually remmeber the name of a manga by the name that the Scalantion Team first called the series. Even when I bought the license manga which has its name changed, I still remember the manga by its Japanese name which the Scanlation Team first called them by.
Special A was already being called S.A. by some people who didn't want to type the whole name out already before it was licensed.

You mean change the "main" name at the top of a series page to the correct licensed name for it?
Just do a change request for it...Just because it's licensed though doesn't mean we'll go to the trouble of changing the entry unless you ask...And just to tell you, there's no way to automate this

With that "kthx" (which sounds like "I'm right, end of argument"...) you should sign up to be staff to do the extra work required for this. ;)
Have licensees sometimes changed the name after officially annoying the titles they pick up? That sounds like an extra headache even if it only come up every 100 titles.

Hmm, technically the "official name" IS the original title. So you think it's only "right" to go by the domestic licensor's rename, right? I'm not convinced. I actually despise it whenever a licensor renames a series. Furthermore, the "scanlation names" are the original titles, and to disregard it so simply is kinda disrespectful to the author(s). Well, since this is your suggestion, why not put up a poll for it and then come back with the results to support your push. G'luck

It's already included in Associated names and searchable, so it's not like the english name isn't there.
There isn't much of a purpose for this other than self-satisfacation, Perfect Girl Evolution is the official name in numerous languages, I have no freakin clue as to why Del Ray changed it to The Wallflower, it doesn't even relate to the series. It's not even as if Perfect Girl Evolution was taken by another famous work or anything.
So yeh, if you're really THAT inclined to change every licensed series to their new nonsensical names then send in the change request.
This is more nitpicking than necessity though, it's not as there are major errors with these names.

And yea, lamb, I meant changing the main-main name to the licensed name. ;P
*greydak Nice job taking my example and twisting it around. -_-; It's an EXAMPLE. Example boy! Calm down. I don't care if everyone calls it PGE, Del Rey is the official licensing company, thus their title IS the official title whether you like it or not. ;P Anyways, there's no direct translation to Yamato Nadeshiko Shinchi Henge, so PGE isn't "right" either. ;P
*Akillarian Because leechers are the ones who prefer the names staying at the scanlation group. Like you. ^_^ Your post is a good example.
*cano435 News flash - that's the whole point of their business. :lol: Why would they stick a foreign word in their titles?

For right now, we're leaving all titles the way they are unless someone makes a change request for a specific series. It's too annoying for us admins to go through all the licensed series and look up which one of them is the English "official" one

Foreign? Official? I'll take it you're American, which might explain the whole ethnocentric tone of voice. First of all, although PGE is licensed in the U.S. by Del Rey, that company is not the same licensor for that title in other countries. In case you didn't realize it, this site reaches people from other countries as well, many who prolly don't have the same books licensed stateside. Therefore, the original title is the official title, and should remain that way for the purpose of retaining universal accuracy. Besides, it was already explained to you that there are functions in the site for this type of crap that you want so much.
The whole point of a licensor's business is to profit, not butcher a title (that's petty). It's because of demanding people like you, who want foreign stuff to be degraded to your level, that changes are made. Case in point: a majority of Tokyopop books gets renamed and heavily edited to fit American "tastes", such as Ikkitousen (Battle Vixens) and You Are My Pet (Tramps Like Us).
I suggest you immerse yourself in social sciences, you seem to be lacking culture heavily. Furthermore, don't tell people to go kill themselves, especially when you sound more deserving. Finally, the excessive gestures after each of your sentences/phrases don't make you sound any better or smarter than the person you're trying to put down, so NONONON!! None of that.

so wait a minute, you want the names changed from their original names, to the chopped up, stupid sounding English names?
For what?
simplicity?
Laziness?
Personally, i think that the names they have should stay the same, since the "english names" are listed under it.
Not everyone knows the english names, and most times, its better known under the Orig name, so why bother?

EDIT :: Yea I lied. I like debating ;P And I'm bored. This should be a good way to kill 5 minutes.
Foreign = series that names aren't translated into English. Like the amount of complaints at Viz licensing Ichigo 100% under Strawberry 100%. And Koukou Debut - was it SO hard to just translate "koukou"? -_-;
Where you come up with those examples baffles me because anyone with a brain could see what I was referring to. Last time I checked You are my Pet isn't foreign so I agree that change was stupid but last time I checked Ikkitousen isn't even English.
Stop worrying about the stick up my ass and worry about your own.
FWIW I'm not American :3

I'd much prefer the title of each manga page to retain it's original title, powkari_swett~uh pointed out why.
If you want to see it as a licensed title or nickname, add the title as an associated name and add it to your list manually under that name, not by changing the main title.
