Question for Female Otakus

Poll
Why do girl Otakus never try to find guy otakus?
Guy would rather look at anime girls then me
Guy has no money/jobs
Guy is to lazy
Guy is to nerdy
They are not cute as the guys from animes/mangas
I wanna be the nerd and find a cool boyfriend
Why find a boyfriend to busy with anime/manga

You know, a lot of people seem to hide that they are otakus either when they are at school or with certain friends.

I'm definitely one of those people you'd have no idea was an otaku unless you saw them at a convention, their room, or took a peek into their mind (mine is a scary place) biggrin

I don't really hide I'm an otaku (okay, maybe just a little subconsciously); it just doesn't show on the outside ^_^

this is a good question why girl otakus don`t go for otakus....

we [ i ] want a cool sports guy. and guy otakus [ the ones i met ] are super nerdy. it`s as simple as that.

Ha ha, it's reaaly weird that you should be saying that, because I'm in the opposite position: where i wish i could find some nice otaku to get together with and share life, love and manga with.
Unfortunate I've never met any and often feel as though I'm the only otaku in the world, and that all the otakus i know only exist virtually on internet XD
So in the end, i just end up thinking: yeah, well, maybe not finding any he-otaku is a way destiny has of telling me I'm supposed to end up single, with a houseful of anime and manga with no one to share them with except my cats? X3
Who knows. I don't really mind yet.
I'm seventeen, never had a boyfriend, and frankly...why would i settle down for any guy when i havea whole world of beautiful bishonens to keep me entertained? ;) I'll keep waiting for my Prince Charming/Otaku Luver...and if i don't find him...I HAVE THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF MANGA IN WHICH TO DROWN MY SORROW!!!
laugh

(Great poll, by the way. Really quite interesting)

Wow I would have never thought that I'd be a problem to have a guy who likes anime too.

Anyway I've given up on guys, that's why I prefer looking at yaoi nowadays heh... anime guys look better than the real ones anyway.

*sighs*

As for cosplayers, just look at them, the ones who get popular are the ''cute'' guys. Girls, even though they are good, hardly ever get apriciated, if they get, they get aprciated by girls mostly.

i agree biggrin actually there is one guy i know who's an otaku...he likes me >< but he's more like a friend to me (dont' get me wrong he is smart...and cute embarrassed ) oh well roll

i am not sure i can find someone who loves yaoi and even if i fin find i dont think he would be interested in girls... bigrazz and if u consider boys mostly like shounen i dont think we would have something in common after all... so doesnt really matter if he is an otoku or not... ;) i think thats why i didnt even bother to find an otaku bf bigrazz

I wouldn't want to go out with a girl that likes anime/manga the few I know are just nuts/annoying... I would much rather find a girl with a decent taste in music, now that is much harder sad

Any guy I have ever met in real life who has any interest in anime or manga whatsoever is really gross and wierd. like rarely showering gross, and wierd in a bad way. personally, I want to date a guy with at least a decent sense of personal hygene (I know I spelled that wrong) at least.

Second that!

Problem is in finding anyone who knows what manga is... Poles are not especially aware how great manga is, *deep sight* , and that is quite grave indeed, not one male/female otaku too be found.

I'd love to snag a cute otaku boyfriend ... but I have yet to find one. I've come across plenty of obese, greasy, unwashed guys who sport Naruto headbands but none that I would consider boyfriend material. I don't have excessively high standards, but as musicalmaria25 pointed out, they should at least have good hygiene and take care of themselves.

I had an otaku boyfriend.....pretty good looking too. The only problem was he was too shy. It was really lame. He had to ask our friend to ask me out and then the only thing he would talk about was Naruto and eat candy for lunch. I think that girls otakus are looking for otaku boys who can talk about other things besides anime/manga 24/7 and have good hygiene and health. At least that's what I want. XP XD

Sheesh...61 pages of posts was too much to read through. I stopped at page 20 and skipped the the end. Still, I wanted to add my 2 cents to the thread.

Just so you know where my perspective is coming from: I'm a single mom, nearing the 40-year mark smile

My dream man would be one who shared my interests in reading (not just manga, but sci-fi and fantasy also), watching anime, wearing costumes to conventions, going to flea markets, eating Thai food....you get the idea.

At the very least, I would like to find someone who is willing to let me be who I am, 1000+ books and all, and wouldn't constantly harass me about my "stupid" or "childish" hobbies, and pressure me to get rid of some of my books (or any of the other stuff I have). Case in point: my brother is a big Nascar fan. Before he got married, he had amassed quite a collection of Nascar collectibles, some of which were quite nice and increased in value after Dale Earnhardt's death. Then he got married, and over the next four years, his wife has needled him to get rid of - not just part - but ALL of his Nascar stuff. She can't stand his hobbies, which includes hunting and fishing, and always gives him a difficult time whenever he spends any time involved in those things.

I'd rather stay single than have to live with someone like that, thank you very much.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it or not, but there is an online dating community just for geeks - it's called Soul Geek.
