You know how many series have some form of romance inside them? Like even Naruto has some even though the focus of the series is on action and fighting. Well, for this poll, how much romance do you like to read in your series?

You can discuss this poll on our forums here:
http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=26246

I made this poll myself, as I don't really like any of the current suggestions. You can submit poll ideas here (and try to keep them manga/anime-related):
http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=3903

Previous Poll Results:
Question: I'd watch anime fillers if...
Choices:
It develops the characters - votes: 1542 (13.2%)
It expands on the main plot - votes: 1459 (12.5%)
It is a self-contained story arc - votes: 648 (5.5%)
Had the same quality as the regular episodes - votes: 3414 (29.2%)
Were funny - votes: 1794 (15.4%)
Had lots of action - votes: 132 (1.1%)
Don't want to see them at all. They're all pointless in the end - votes: 2698 (23.1%)
There were 11687 total votes.
The poll ended: May 14th 2011

If only they were the same quality...

I like romance in manga, provided it is of sufficient quality and of a type I like.

If the romance makes sense, then yeah, I like seeing romance. That being said, I hate all romance thrown into the Tales series. Most of the time they don't make sense to me. They seem forced.

But generally, I do like seeing romance. Romance is everywhere IRL, it might as well be in our manga. But if it's like a zombie apocalypse, I don't expect romance. I expect all the characters to, y'know, try to survive.

It really depends on the manga, but some romance is nice as long as it's natural and isn't forced.

I personally rather have none, but it really depends on what kind of manga you're reading.

Romance in a martial arts manga with minimal storyline (see Tough & Worst)? Yeeeeeah, no.

But having a little bit in from time to time can make things interesting.

It's nice to have a bit of romance but it depends on how it is potrayed. I cannot tolerate romance which is forced ,and the recipent just accepts it and falls in love

This is totally missing a "Depends on the series" option!

I think everyone would end up picking it depends then XD I surely would because that was my first thought.

Shoujo-ai? Yes.
Fauxjo-ai? No.
Other? Not especially.

I like some romance. Not too much like shoujo filled, but an action manga would work better with a small filled romance department in it. Not many stories work well without romance, though One Piece is still pretty awesome nevertheless haha

It depends on whether the romance has natural progression or is just shoehorned in. I have a huge problem with romance that is used as a plot device (e.g. damsel in distress or "gets the girl in the end" cliches) instead of character development because I find them incredibly overdone and annoying. Having some drama in the story is good too, but if it starts feeling like a soap opera I just roll my eyes and stop reading. There's a tightrope to walk there, but in a lot of manga it feels like the writer just thought "meh, let's just toss in a love interest and see how it goes." How is there supposed to be any development if a character is determined as "the love interest" from the very beginning?

Sigh. I just want to read compelling romance that isn't melodramatic and compliments the story, is that too much to ask? sad

When I think romance, I think it has to be somewhat mutual, otherwise it's just a 1 person crush. I wouldn't say that One Piece has any romance.

One Piece does have romance; the romance of adventure!
