Quote from Dr. Love
But I'm realistic, because I never have high hopes for any occasion whatsoever. Though I'm an optimistic, because when something bad happens I always try to look at it from the bright side.
Does that make me an optimistic realist.
Does that make me an optimistic realist.
No, because when you're looking at it from the bright side, you aren't actually being realistic, you're being hopeful, which technically isn't grounded in reality (same thing for people who insist that things will continue to get worse). Like I said, everyone adopts separate philosophies at separate times, it's a matter of which one you adopt most frequently. You can't be both optimistic and realistic at the same time, the definitions conflict with one another. You're an "optimist who occasionally is realistic" or vice versa, not both.
edit: You can still be an optimist that's less optimistic or whatever, but that doesn't make you realistic instead. It's not like optimism is a bad thing or anything though .
Hooray for arguing semantics!
