well ive been thinking about gettin a next-gen console in a few months when the prices drop. i dont know a lot about the wii beyond wii sports. is it or have they announced any rpg's? final fantasy/tales of/star ocean-esque?

general opinion of the wii? any recommendations for the other two systems?

It has Zelda. Some would consider that a reason enough to buy it, because the game is very good.

But I personally just can't bring myself to call Wii a next-gen console.

I love the Wii as an object. While all my other video game systems required their own shelves, I can just shove my Wii between a couple of VHS tapes. (however, I do turn off the internet when it is on standby to prevent it from overheating)

There's always Super Paper Mario which has a little RPG twist to it.

I wish they bring a new Tales series in to the Nintendo consoles. I absolutely loved Tales of Symphonia. >_>.

I'm also waiting for the OVA series...

I hope one of the Final Fantasy titles makes it to the Wii...Tactics Advance and Crystal Chronicles for the other Nintendo systems make me want more!

Zelda Twilight Princess yep!? Although there will be the Gyakuten Saiban 4 game which I believe a new type of genre. Final Fantasy is a must. and The Tales series... i rofled on this one ("I'm going to save both worlds!!! so Presea what do you want to do?" and she replies... "I... want to go home..." or "Did you see me? Oh yeh baby I was watching alright.") gosh.

there is a crystal chronicles game for the wii, just not much information on it yet.

as for tales, more or less unlikely on the wii, but who knows.

another rpg esque game on the wii is fire emblem, if you're interested in a bit more strategy with your rpgs, then it's a great game to get when it comes out.

but yeah, eventually we'll be shelling out more money for the other systems and their larger rpg selection, but we can wait.

yea the wii sounds a bit barren in the rpg fields, those everybody listed except kingdom hearts(?) just arent my cup of tea....

if they ported more tales games over tho, id be all up on the wii bandwagon

The only ones I've heard of are Twilight Princess and Crystal Bearers.

What I'm looking forward to is sword swinging. That's the reason that the Wii is next generation - it's picking up movements instead of buttons.

And the Super Paper Mario is half RPG, half good old adventure. My brother and I beat it in a week.

the reason why the rpg field is so baron right now is because of how the wii controls are. i mean ever since the dawn of video games it was all button pushing with few exceptions like ddr and guitar hero. but with the wii's new type of controls its thrown the video game world into a loop wait a year and 1/2 and rpgs will be coming off the development line like hotcakes. just how do you guys swing the wimote a simple shake will get the job done the only time i ever needed to extend my arm is when i used the bow. oh and for some crazy reason i got both the wii version and gamecube version and i found the gamecube version more to my liking because the wii version was too easy. i remember all the other zelda game like ocarina of time, wind waker and the were fricing hard i must have spent 100 hours to beat each of them but i beat the wii version of tlztp so easily
